Electro-Cleaning & Passivation Operator

SP Industries Inc. is expanding our team in Gardiner, NY and have an immediate opening for a Electro-Cleaning & Passivation Operator. In this role, the right candidate will be responsible for performing surface finishing and cleaning processes on stainless steel parts to ensure optimal corrosion resistance and appearance. This is a hands-on production position that involves pre-cleaning, racking, rinsing, and operating equipment in accordance with documented procedures and safety standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Part Preparation: Manually clean and degrease metal parts to remove oils, grease, and other contaminants before processing.
  • Racking and Un-racking: Safely load parts onto fixtures and racks for processing and unload finished parts for the next stage of production.
  • Process Operation: Operate electropolishing and passivation equipment, including immersion tanks, power supplies, and wash systems.
  • Rinsing: Thoroughly rinse parts between process steps to neutralize chemicals and ensure a clean surface.
  • Quality Control: Perform visual and dimensional inspections of parts to identify defects and ensure they meet quality and appearance standards.
  • Documentation: Accurately document in-process inspection results and report any quality issues to a supervisor.
  • Safety and Housekeeping: Follow all company safety procedures, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, aprons, and gloves. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Maintenance: Monitor equipment and communicate any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively as part of a team to meet daily production goals.

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to read and follow documented work instructions and safety procedures.
  • Willingness to learn and be trained on specialized equipment and processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks with precision.
  • Physical requirements: Must be able to lift and handle materials up to 40 lbs, stand for extended periods, and have good manual dexterity.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Payrate : $20-24/hr

HSE

  • Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures
  • Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tagout methods
  • Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts
  • Report defect in any equipment or protective device
  • Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks
  • Attend all required health, safety and environmental training
  • Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor
  • Assist in investigating accidents/incidents
  • Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct
