Summary:

A detailed professional skilled in analyzing data, working with reports, and utilizing spreadsheets within the Payroll Department. Ensures compliance with Company policies and procedures, while proficiently managing time and attendance, payroll tax withholdings, remittance, and various deductions and garnishments

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist in ensuring accurate and timely production of payroll functions; oversee and participate in the review, verification, auditing, and processing of payroll
• Participate in the preparation and maintenance of records and reports related to payroll, employee information, time sheets, benefits, salaries, leave, taxes, deductions, payments, and other assigned duties; review, evaluate and audit payroll, health benefit changes and related financial and statistical data, records, and reports

• Research, evaluate and ensure that payroll issues and discrepancies are resolved in a proper and timely manner
• Participate in payroll support functions; calculate, review, verify and post a variety of complex payroll data such as gross pay, retirement, retroactive payments, hours, tax information and leave; balance, reconcile and submit payrolls for check processing
• Coordinate auditing, record-keeping, and reporting functions to ensure proper application, calculation and reporting of payroll data, benefits, and taxes; oversee and participate in the coding and application of voluntary deductions; oversee the distribution and processing of retirement plans and Health Savings Account (HSA) plans; coordinate the processing of payroll deductions for health and welfare benefits
• Communicate with outside departments, vendors, and external agencies to exchange information; serve as a resource regarding these payroll functions
• Prepares and analyzes payroll data for complex calculations and provides confidential information, reports, and analysis for departmental reporting
• Recommends changes to policies, systems or reports that improve overall performance of the department while maintaining a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and Local regulations
• Customer focus on completing all payroll related documentation and remit to the appropriate agencies
• Responsible for performing control/audit tasks and reporting and analysis within the payroll business process, including management of audit inquires and end of year statement production
• Responsible for ensuring all aspects of the payroll cycle, including tax, benefits, wage attachments, are processed, reconciled, audited, and transmitted accurately and timely
• Responsible for payroll funding prep and wire transfers
• Serves as a payroll "subject matter expert" answering questions regarding payroll process or systems
• Gathers data and information; analyzes and interprets based upon established criteria; creates statements, summaries and/or reports accordingly
• Completes analysis and reconciliation of payroll expenditures, including, but not limited to, tax payments and benefit plan disbursements. Audits information for accuracy and determines if correcting measures are appropriate. Works with Accounting on reconciling variances, or any accounting corrections
• Completes other duties, including special projects, as assigned by Management

Skill Requirements:
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft applications in (Excel, Word, Outlook - manipulate lines, moving data, construct simple formulas)
• Strong written and oral communication skills with a focus on customer service
• Effective critical thinking, decision-making skills, and the ability to research and resolve issues
• Ability to perform independent action and decision making with little to no supervision
• Ability to multi-task in a dynamic work environment, and prioritize activities and to meet all required deadlines
• Positive, professional attitude and adaptive to change
• Ability to hand diverse situations, multiple projects and rapidly changing priorities
• Ability to perform repeated bending, standing and reaching
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds

Education Requirements
• Bachelors in accounting or business degree preferred, or equivalent experience

Experience Requirements:
• Experience with HR, Payroll, and Timekeeping preferred
• Experience with Workday HCM & Payroll Platform a plus
