We are seeking an experienced and versatile Systems Engineer II with advanced expertise in AWS Cloud architecture, infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible), Linux systems, and enterprise networking to support the design, development, and operation of scalable and secure enterprise platforms. This role will also involve network design (OSPF, MPLS, Multicast), system engineering with Cisco UCS and VMware, and directory services integration. This is a high-impact role that requires excellent troubleshooting abilities, infrastructure acumen, and a passion for engineering excellence.
WHAT OUR SYSTEMS ENGINEERS ENJOY THE MOST
- Design and implement scalable, secure cloud infrastructure using AWS best practices, Terraform, and Ansible.
- Lead infrastructure automation efforts to streamline provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management.
- Design and configure Layer 2/3 enterprise networks including OSPF, ICMP, MPLS, multicast, and network security best practices.
- Engineer and manage virtualized infrastructure using VMware and physical compute systems on Cisco UCS platforms.
- Integrate and manage identity and authentication systems including Active Directory and SSO integrations.
- Actively participate in OSS architecture discussions, solution design, and review sessions to ensure operational feasibility and performance optimization.
- Administer, monitor, and maintain Linux systems supporting OSS applications and ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
- Troubleshoot complex application, network, or infrastructure issues independently and mentor junior staff in resolving systemic problems.
- Document system configurations, architecture designs, and operational procedures thoroughly and effectively.
- Collaborate with DBAs, developers, and network engineers to optimize application performance and database reliability.
- Provide on-call support as part of a rotation to ensure 24x7 operational stability.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- Three (3)+ years in a Systems Engineering or Cloud Infrastructure role.
- Three (3)+ years of experience designing or operating in AWS environments with automation.
- Three (3)+ years of hands-on experience with network engineering, virtualization, and enterprise server architecture.
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of security principles including IAM, role-based access control, network segmentation, vulnerability management, and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, CIS, ISO 27001).
- Background supporting large-scale OSS applications and databases.
- Experience in Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) and working with cross-functional IT teams.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS Cloud infrastructure, including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, etc.
- Proven expertise in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and configuration management using Ansible.
- Proficient in Linux system administration, shell scripting, and automation pipelines (CI/CD).
- Deep understanding of enterprise networking protocols and design (OSPF, MPLS, multicast, ICMP, VLANs, firewalls).
- Experience designing and maintaining infrastructure with Cisco UCS, VMware ESXi/vCenter, and SAN/NAS storage systems.
- Familiarity with identity services like Active Directory, LDAP, and integration with enterprise platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems independently and deliver root cause analysis reports.
- Knowledge of OSS/BSS systems, systems integration, and service assurance tools is a plus.
- Experience integrating and managing RESTful APIs, including authentication (OAuth, tokens), logging, and performance optimization.
- Strong experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design, query optimization, and backup strategies.
- Working Conditions:
- Office environment.
- Participation in after-hours on-call rotation required.
- Occasional travel or data center presence may be required.
Preferred Education
- Industry certifications strongly preferred: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Cisco CCNP/CCIE, HashiCorp Terraform Associate, VMware VCP, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
