Are you prepared to lead our organization's on-premise and cloud strategy as a Principal Engineer, utilizing your deep understanding of both infrastructures? In this pivotal role, you will manage and deploy hybrid environments in lab settings, ensuring integration between on-premise data centers and AWS. Your expertise will modernize infrastructure, automate workflows using MLOps frameworks like Kubeflow and MLflow, and optimize costs and performance across environments. This position offers the chance to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, driving innovation, efficiency, and scalability within a hybrid cloud landscape.

WHAT OUR PRINCIPAL ENGINEERS ENJOY MOST In addition to the core responsibilities and requirements for a Principal Engineer I, duties and requirements specific to the Multi Cloud Infrastructure role include:

  • Collaborate with production and architecture teams to implement and optimize on-prem and multi-cloud infrastructure solutions
  • Develop and manage Kubernetes-based infrastructure for scalable and available applications across hybrid environments
  • Automate workflows using Ansible, GitOps, and CI/CD pipelines to enhance operational efficiency
  • Knowledge of MLOps best practices for effective AI/ML workload management across hybrid infrastructures
  • Lead cost optimization efforts to align cloud resource usage with financial goals (FinOps)
  • Ensure compliance, security, and governance across on-prem and cloud environments using security tools
  • Mentor engineering teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain competitive and efficient infrastructure


WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

Required Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years engineering work experience
    • 5+ years project management work experience
  • Skills:
    • Extensive experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration and cloud-native architectures
    • Strong experience with automation tools such as Ansible, GitOps, Jenkins, or similar.
    • Experience with RedHat OpenShift.
    • Strong understanding of cost optimization techniques, FinOps, and multi-cloud governance models.
    • In-depth knowledge of security and compliance best practices in both on-prem and cloud environments.
    • Proficiency in Infrastructure as a service, container as a service and platform as a service.
    • Basic knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
    • Experience in MLOps frameworks and managing AI/ML workloads across hybrid infrastructures.
    • Basic knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
    • Basic knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model
    • Basic knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.
    • Basic knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances Basic knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with all levels of business users in a professional manner.
    • Extensive experience with collaborating and building team consensus when interacting with both the leadership and the implementation teams.
    • Ability to read, write and speak the English language
    • Ability to use personal computer and software applications
    • Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience:
    • Certification in cloud technologies (AWS) or Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD).
    • Experience with on-prem cloud security tools such as Qualys, Kenna, OPA, Kyverno, or similar.
    • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.) and MLOps tools (Kubeflow, MLflow, AWS Sage Maker)
    • 5+ years of experience in Lab infrastructure engineering, with a focus on on-prem and multi-cloud environments.

The base pay for this position generally is between $110,800.00 and $196,400.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
