As a Principal Engineer I on this team, you will be responsible for engineering activities that maintain and enhance the company's telecommunications and signal processing hardware, software, and electrical systems in SCP lab environments. You will be responsible for many aspects of the lab architecture and design, especially regarding RF, Ethernet, Coaxial, and optical fiber layout. You will work closely with technical operations staff on system design and configuration, as well as with design teams and advising team leaders and staff personnel.
WHAT OUR PRINCIPAL ENGINEERS ENJOY MOST
- Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the SCP lab infrastructure.
- Designs, implements, monitors, enhances, and troubleshoots systems within multiple lab environments in the Denver area.
- Analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties and documentation, as necessary.
- Tests and reviews system designs.
- Provides Engineering Technical support and guidance to regional personnel and ensure all technical integration, changes, standards, and documentation are met.
- Mentors and guides the work of the lab technical staff.
- Reviews lab POC, integration, and rollout plans, produce lab designs, and make advisements/recommendations where needed.
- Adheres to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
- Have a deep understanding of current company policy and enforce with staff, as necessary.
- Performs other duties as requested by your manager.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Basic knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
- Basic knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
- Basic knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model
- Basic knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.
- Basic knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances
- Basic knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio
- Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
- Ability to use personal computer and software applications
Required Education
Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience
Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years
Engineering work experience - 5-10 Project management work experience - 5-10
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
- Knowledge of company products and services
- 10+ years of RF/Coaxial/RPHY practical knowledge
- 10+ years of experience installing Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.)
- 10+ years of experience working in a lab/data center environment
Preferred Education
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Industry and/or vendor specific certifications and training preferred (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)

The base pay for this position generally is between $110,800.00 and $196,400.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
