Job Summary
The Project Engineer IV is responsible for the planning and tactical execution of the engineering content of an assigned project. This includes successfully leading an assigned multidisciplinary engineering team
through project planning and execution of program on time and on budget. The projects can be a mix of customer and internally funded. This position requires a broad technical knowledge needed to assess
scope of a project for planning purposes, identify technical challenges at an early stage and navigate the project down a successful path from conceptual design to production. The candidate should attain an in-depth
understanding of Sparton business goals and provide the engineering leadership required to support goal attainment.

Responsibilities and Tasks
- Decompose project requirements to ensure that all project work is estimated and scheduled.
- Develop and maintains project plans on assigned Engineering level projects in new product development or sustaining of existing projects
- Manage engineering execution of assigned Projects.
- Provide direction and leadership and/or mentoring to assigned engineering team members.
- Lead teams and facilitate the communication and interaction amongst the functional representatives; develop cross functional teams to assure proper engineering discipline representation on a task.
- Serve as Risk and Opportunity Officer on assigned projects. Identify roadblocks and bottlenecks to project execution and determine a course of action to eliminate or avoid them; develop and implement recovery plans for off schedule and unanticipated events.
- Manage technical team ETCs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provides input to engineering team member performance appraisals and performance improvement plans as required.
- Assigns specific job tasks to engineers and teams for completion as well as monitor progress.
- Provides key technical insight to Vice President of Development Programs, Vice President of
- Engineering and Senior Leadership Team in internal and external program reviews and reports.
- Interface directly with customers through presentations, meetings, or other communication Serve as member of the Engineering Leadership Team (ELT).
- Support Bid and proposals efforts including system architectural design, BOE creation and technical writing.
- Uses Sparton policies and procedures to complete work assignments and assures group employees adhere to the Sparton policies and procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Licenses and Certifications
- BS Engineering, MS preferred.
- 15+ years' experience.
- Earned Value Management (EVM) Control Account Manager (CAM) experience preferred.
- Experience working through the System Engineering Technical Review (SETR) process.
Skills and Abilities
- Must possess or be able to acquire a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Demonstrated analytical problem solving.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of the Defense acquisition and budget process.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, when required.
