Technical Project Engineer
Position Objective
Project Engineer III, will lead the planning and tactical execution of engineering content for assigned programs, serving as the primary technical authority under Engineering Leadership and in direct collaboration with the Program Manager. This role will drive multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time and on budget, while acting as the key technical liaison between engineering management, technical disciplines, and the customer. The role will ensure alignment with Sparton's business goals through effective cross-functional leadership and visible organizational impact.
The ideal candidate for this position comes from a background in systems engineering, engineering IPT lead, operations product manager, technical program manager, or other engineering function with leadership responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Guide and execute engineering management practices, to include holding requirements technical review boards and systems engineering technical reviews to include understanding and interpreting technical requirements and coordinating requirements across organizations
- Working knowledge of DOD program environment; esp. FAR, ITAR, and FMS requirements.
- Manage technical team ETCs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversees and coordinates the cost/schedule/technical aspects of ongoing engineering projects and understand Earned Value analysis of cost and schedule metrics.
- Assigns specific job tasks to engineers and teams for completion as well as monitor progress.
- Provides key technical insight to Vice President of Development Programs, Vice President of Engineering and Senior Leadership Team in internal and external program reviews and reports.
- Interface directly with customers through presentations, meetings, or other communication
- Serve as member of the Engineering Leadership Team (ELT).
- Support Bid and proposals efforts including system architectural design, BOE creation and technical writing.
- Uses Sparton policies and procedures to complete work assignments and assures group employees adhere to the Sparton policies and procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
- 4-year degree from an accredited university in Engineering or related field
- 8+ years' experience
- Earned Value Management (EVM) Control Account Manager (CAM) experience preferred
- Experience working through the System Engineering Technical Review (SETR) process
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Must possess or be able to acquire a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- Demonstrated analytical problem solving.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of the Defense acquisition and budget process.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, when required.
