SR. FINANCIAL ANALYST (STARSHIELD) - TOP SECRET CLEARANCE

Starshield leverages SpaceX’s Starlink technology and launch capability to support national security efforts. While Starlink is designed for consumer and commercial use, Starshield is designed for government use, with an initial focus on earth observation, communications, and hosted payloads.

The Sr. Financial Analyst will be instrumental in the development, tracking, forecasting, analysis, and reporting of SpaceX’s Starshield capabilities. This is a key financial planning and analysis (FP&A) role with responsibility for providing executive-level visibility of key revenue and spending trends as well as business and program performance of underlying operations.  The successful candidate will have a strong drive and will interface with all aspects of the company, including production, engineering, customer operations, sales, and executive management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead forecast of key performance indicators (KPIs), including spending and resource requirements for government satellite business groups, including headcount, capital, and operating expenses
  • Develop and enhance tools to track contract performance and incurred project costs every month, as well as estimates to complete
  • Provide insight on revenue, spending variances, and department-level reporting to business partners
  • Support proposal and business development activities
  • Coordinate capital expenditure tracking and related cash forecast across the entire company
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses as needed to support operational decision-making and improve profitability
  • Perform a leading role on internal projects, working closely with peer organizations to understand key business issues and translate them into financial models and metrics
  • Analyze and interpret financial data for use in management reviews and decisions

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of professional experience in accounting, finance operations, business, or economics
  • Active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or engineering
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, applied business statistics, and general modeling experience of complex non-linear systems
  • MBA and/or CPA
  • Experience in finance/accounting within manufacturing or technology industries
  • Experience acting as a finance subject matter expert in the optimization of various enterprise resource planning (ERP) business tools and applications
  • Knowledge of reporting, visualization, intelligence, and analysis tools
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to regularly interface with executive management
  • Strong leadership skills and have a high level of responsibility and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with presenting analytical results in verbal and written form across a multi-disciplinary organization
  • Ability to frame unstructured and complex analytical problems for a broad audience

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Note that an active clearance may provide the opportunity for you to work on sensitive SpaceX missions. If so, you will be subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing
  • This position is based in Hawthorne, CA (Los Angeles area), and requires being onsite full-time – hybrid and remote work will not be considered

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Pay range: 

Sr. Financial Analyst: $110,000.00 - $145,000.00/per year
    
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
