  • Provide design engineering, cost estimates and project management activities for overhead and underground transmission telecom systems. Will manage these elements from project inception to project closing.
  • Coordinates activities externally and internally as needed to ensure project compliance in regard to both external and/or SCE standards, policies, rates, rules, as well as insuring project operating dates and or compliance due dates are actively monitored and met.
  • Communicates and interfaces on a regular and timely basis with customers, as well as internal SCE organizations, departments, and other groups with regards to assigned projects.
  • Serves in the role of assigned project lead and acts in the role of the primary point of contact to the Transmission Telecom Manager and/or other organizations as called upon in regard to assigned SCE projects status.
  • Reviews projects involving relocation of Transmission Telecom facilities located on or within Transmission and Distribution facilities for rights-of-way and enforce adherence to operational standards.
  • Act as a mentor to Designer classifications, while providing assistance, guidance and instruction to other team members.
  • Acts as 24 hour "On Call" duty supervisor for the assigned work base.
  • Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

The essentials

  • Three or more years of experience in transmission, distribution and/or telecommunications line work or experience working in an electrical utility distribution service planning function in transmission or distribution.
  • Possess a valid Driver's license.
  • Willing to work on-call for 24-hour basis for the assigned work base.

The preferred

  • Thorough knowledge and experience with telecom, transmission, or distribution line construction, maintenance, methods, procedures, tools and materials.
  • Broad knowledge of transmission rights-of-way practices and corporate/business line policies and practices, including safety and environmental rules and regulations and the IBEW contract.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience applying engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices.
  • Experience determining scope of work, method of service, technical design requirements, and construction methods for overhead and underground facilities.
  • Ability to serve as senior staff expert and provide leadership, direction, training, and mentoring to staff.
  • Experience serving as a project leader for the design and implementation of design projects, as well as planning, influencing, anticipating, and communicating conditions, trends and corrective actions in operational areas.
  • Ability to accurately gather and analyze information and make strategic decisions regarding project scope, impact, policy, development, and implementation.
  • Experience with blueprint, work order & civil map interpretation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Auto Desk Utility Design (AUD), SPIDA (or other Pole Loading programs).
  • Able to drive, traverse on uneven surfaces, occasionally lift up to 40 lbs, sit/stand for extended periods of time, work in various weather conditions, and possibly be in remote regions (coast, desert, and mountain) for extended periods of time.

  • This position's work mode is hybrid.\u202fThe employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.\u202fUnless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California.\u202fFurther details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

  • The primary work location for this position is Alhambra. However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at (alternate work location).
  • Position will require up to 60% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • This position has a 9/80 Work Schedule.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.

Testing

  • This position requires testing and applicants who are identified to continue through the selection process will be invited to test via email. Reference our Information Guides for the following tests\: EEI TECH (Test #5107). Candidates who have previously passed these assessment(s), in some cases, may not need to retest again for this position.
