Become a Manager of Demand Response Systems & Technology in the Demand Response (DR) Technology & Pilots team at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better more sustainable tomorrow.

In this position, you will manage the staff who are responsible for the systems and technology that enable and support SCE's DR programs. The focus of this team is to provide cross-cutting support to the entire DR portfolio, as these systems facilitate DR program administration, as well as the source for compliance reporting, budget tracking and customer support functions. You will have direct oversight of program dispatch systems and functions which encompass over 900 megawatts of energy response from nearly 500,000 participating customer accounts.

You will oversee the development and preparation of SCE's next Demand Response Application including written testimony, forecasts and supporting documentation on behalf of the DR Systems and Technology team. You will ensure adequate customer and program support coverage during grid emergencies and you will work with fellow staff via emergency teams, leadership and others to provide support as needed.

  • Oversee the team who manage vendor(s) and system(s) that support SCE's Demand Response (DR) portfolio by undertaking the following key responsibilities:
  • Lead day to day operations for all of SCE's DR systems and serve as the primary liaison to all internal and external stakeholders, clients and customers.
  • Develop comprehensive business plan on an annual basis to meet and ensure all system enhancements meet program and regulatory changes.
  • Lead the team for project implementations adherence to scope, schedule and budget as well as quality and regulatory compliance. Balance frequently conflicting priorities, limited resources, extremely tight planning and implementation timelines, and risks, amid a constantly changing environment. Make strategic decisions regarding changing project scope and direction.
  • Lead and ensure DR programs are dispatched according to agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA) across the company with Customer Programs & Services (CP&S), Customer Engagement Division (CED), Grid Control Center (GCC), and Energy Procurement & Management (EPM). Ensure there is appropriate coverage under the Electric Emergency Action Plan (EEAP) task force and ensure appropriate coverage to monitor and manage systems during all DR program dispatches including both economic and reliability dispatches.
  • Represent the Company with contractors, suppliers, regulatory agencies, customers, other departments, and/or other parties as required. Interact with senior management regularly and is a subject matter expert for the DR Systems & Technology team.

The Essentials

  • Five or more years of combined experience performing or supervising functions in the field of electric utility Demand Response, grid operations, CAISO energy markets, reliability planning, regulatory, and/or customer side demand program management.
  • Three years of experience leading and implementing technology projects or cross-functional projects.

The Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience in electric or gas utility.
  • Experience with waterfall and/or agile software development methodologies and all stages of delivery, including requirements, design, development/configuration, testing, and deployment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply changes to system and technology changes.
  • Experience with business process improvement through recommending software enhancements or data for reports.
  • Knowledge of the California wholesale energy markets and regulatory environment including government agencies such as the CPUC, CAISO, and others.

  • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
