This role involves leading generative AI solutions and developing GPU as a service and LLM as a service models for an AI factory. This position requires a strong technical foundation in software engineering, AI, and DevOps, with strong experience in containerized solutions and Kubernetes. The engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing GPU-centric architectures for RAG and Agentic AI solutions. The role requires a strong knowledge of python to be used for back-end, scripting, and data engineering. This role will also require Infrastructure as Code (IaC) capabilities with technologies like Ansible.

Responsibilities
- Manages and scales data pipelines from internal and external data sources to support new product launches and drive data quality across data products
- Facilitates data engineering activities covering data acquisition, extraction, normalization, transformation, management, and manipulation of large and complex data sets
- Keep abreast of new and current data engineering, big data and data science techniques. Research methods, techniques, and new practices; develop and promote data engineering best practices, standards and guidelines
- Works closely with subject matter experts to design and develop front end applications with data model and data pipelines supporting the applications
- Provides governance and oversight of data assets, data environments and relevant data procedures, with the proactive planning and enforcement of data asset naming conventions
- Builds and maintains data pipelines using big data processing technologies to process and analyze large datasets; uses ETL processes on the internal cluster
- Develops and maintains data warehouse schema and data models, ensuring data consistency and accuracy
- Ensures ongoing alignment of technical and business strategies based on changing business and technology drivers and risks
- Creates advanced visualizations and tools to provide insight, drive action, and support work throughout the business
- Identify and design Data-as-a-Service candidates for improved data availability and consumption
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Statistics/ Mathematics or equivalent STEM major
- Seven or more years of experience in data processing large data sets, hands-on with data transformation, aggregation, and filtering.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, Statistics, Physics, or related discipline.
- Familiar with containerization and orchestration, including Podman, Docker, Kubernetes and Helm Charts, deployment and management of containerized applications.
- Strong backend development skills with Python. Knowledge of API concepts, specifically FastAPI framework and Swagger API documentation.
- Knowledge of front-end development frameworks such as React and NodeJS.
- AI Engineering experience with LLMs, GenAI, RAG pipelines, NVIDIA NIMs, vector databases.
- Devops and CI/CD proficiencies including tooling such as Git and Jenkins.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Ansible.
- Familiarity with network and infrastructure automation capabilities.
- Knowledge of unit, integration testing, regression testing, and performance testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with Apache open source data engineering tools such as Airflow, Nifi, Spark, and Kafka.
- Proficiency in working across Linux, Windows, and macOS environments.
Additional Information
- This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.\u202f Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.\u202f Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

- This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
- This position has an option for a 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule or 40hrs/5 days a week.
