THE ROLE

As the VP of Capital Markets for Sotheby’s Financial Services, you will be a key member of the SFS team working to evolve the business from a full-service financial services organization, to a leading tech-enabled lending platform.

As a senior leader of a core function for the business, you will help us achieve scale and market penetration.  You will participate in the design and implementation of SFS’s funding framework while introducing a new asset-class to the broader capital markets. 

The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial attitude, with passion and excitement to drive new opportunities. You can think analytically, build narrative, and synthesize quantitative and qualitative findings. You are comfortable working with Executive Leadership and collaborating cross functionally.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in the design and implementation of SFS’s long term financing and capital markets strategy
  • Help execute various financing transactions including warehouse facilities, securitizations, and other financing activities
  • Prepare marketing materials, lead diligence processes, and respond to investor requests to help financing counterparties understand SFS’s business 
  • Perform analyses, and create financial models & forecasting/monitoring tools to help drive capital markets intelligence and efficiencies
  • Interact with and help maintain relationships with existing and potential investors 
  • Collaborate cross functionally & with external advisors on execution of capital markets and other functional strategies

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

  • A bachelor's degree in business, management, accounting, economics, statistics, information science or similar (MBA a plus)
  • 7+ years experience in a Capital Markets role for a lending business/fintech platform, Financial Services, Investment Banking, Consulting, or Business Analytics
  • Strong logical and analytical skills, experience with financial modeling, and the ability to use data to make business decisions 
  • Understanding of capital markets, securitization/ABS markets, corporate finance, lending P&L and various capital structures
  • Experience structuring and executing financing transactions, including securitizations. 
  • Strong grasp of the credit space  
  • Solid communication skills
  • Ability to think creatively and critically and thrive in a fast-paced dynamic, and often ambiguous work environment
  • Excellent excel skills
  • Intelligence + Humility

The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $200,000-$250,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
