THE ROLE
The Marketplace Jewelry & Watches Registrar is an integral part of the inventory process, ensuring that all relevant property information is accurately recorded, and property movement is conducted safely and efficiently. The Registrar will be responsible for receiving all jewelry and watches upon arrival to LIC, ensuring property storage remains organized, and that all items are accurately tracked. This person will also manage the efficient packing and shipping of outbound property, while accurately tracking and releasing property out of systematic inventory.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Examine, photograph, and record property upon its arrival to document and verify logistical attributes, including piece count, dimensions, etc.
- Maintain the integrity of the Operational procedures and comply with Risk Management/ Security Department requirements
- Pack sold property for shipment to purchasers and unsold property for shipment to consignors
- Oversee packing and release of property for Pop-Up Shows and transfers to other Sotheby’s locations; condition this property upon its return to LIC
- Examine all property prior to packing, photograph to document condition, record and/or verify associated information, such as piece count
- Confirm all necessary paperwork is complete: verify and ensure accuracy of paperwork, and communicate with appropriate colleagues for any discrepancies
- Properly complete releasing documentation and maintain such documents for audit purposes
- Ensure jewelry & watches property storage maintains high level of organization, and work with the Inventory Manager to perform regular stock checks
IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- Minimum 2 years Registrar/collections management experience a plus
- General overall knowledge of luxury categories (jewelry and watches)
- Packing, supply chain, and ecommerce fulfilment experience a plus
- Ability to handle property in a skillful way with a good working knowledge of safety procedures
- Excellent attention to detail
- A team player who works with other colleagues to complete tasks and activities
- Strong communication skills and superior organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills in a fast-paced environment and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks with speed and efficiency
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekend hours when necessary
The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $58,000-$64,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
