THE ROLE

Located within Sotheby's New York flagship galleries, The Salon at York Ave is an extension of the company’s growing online marketplace, which offers clients and discerning shoppers 24/7, 365 access to an exceptional property mix of over 5,000 authenticated luxury items across exquisite jewels, luxury time pieces, designer handbags, fine art, and more. Marrying the best of e-commerce ease with the excitement of tangible retail shopping, The Salon at York Ave further positions Sotheby’s as the pre-eminent luxury and fine art destination.

Working under the Regional Director, Luxury Retail, Americas  the Client Advisor, Luxury Retail, The Salon at York Ave has a passion for client service and an expertise in luxury goods. The Client Advisor will play a crucial role of consistently providing a superior level of service to clients, while increasing client conversion and retention to drive business revenue and inspire brand awareness and loyalty. The Client Advisor will work within a team of diverse sales associates as well as varying departments within Sotheby’s auction, private sale, client service, operations and marketplace departments. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as Brand Ambassador for Sotheby’s and optimize the client experience by providing new and existing clients with prompt, professional, warm and courteous service to exceed client expectations
  • Lead the recruitment of new clients, conversion of walk-in clients, and development of existing clients
  • Build brand awareness through the use of existing client book or Sotheby’s generated CRM client reports/lists to outreach to new and existing Sotheby’s clients via phone, email, in-store appointments, etc
  • Maintain continuous working knowledge of the Sotheby’s auction, sale and exhibition calendars, special events, and available inventory on the BuyNow platform
  • Liaise with Specialists, Account Managers and Business Getters to initiate, facilitate and execute sales for and through The Salon at York Ave
  • Achieve and exceed individual Sales Goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) while maintaining a strong drive for results with a positive, team first attitude
  • Support operational needs and initiatives inclusive of inventory management, visual merchandising, and technological advancements, etc
  • Participate in auction, exhibition and private sale related sales and client outreach in order to drive business for Sotheby’s in its entirety, as needed

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, ideally in relevant area of study/interest
  • Self-motivated, with customer service mindset and creative problem solving skills
  • 2+ years of sales experience in a luxury retail setting
  • Excellent interpersonal, organization and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Curiosity for current on-goings and trends in the art and fashion industries
  • Evening, weekend and holiday work as required
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, to move and handle merchandise and fixtures throughout the store which may entail lifting, and perform such functions
  • Participate in ad hoc projects, as needed
  • Ability to travel, as needed

The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $65,000-$75,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
