Job Summary
The Credit Representative is responsible for notifying or locating customers with delinquent accounts and attempts to secure payment by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Confer with customers by telephone in attempt to determine reason for overdue payment, reviewing terms of sales, service, or credit contract with customer.
- Notify the credit manager or the assistant manager if customer fails to respond.
- Record information about financial status of customer and status of collection efforts.
- Resolve issues such as proof of delivery, pricing, freight, discounts, or taxes for customer accts.
- Trace customer to new address by inquiring at post office, references, Internet, etc.
- Sort and file correspondence.
- Determine if overrides should be issued to branch on closed account or accounts over their credit limit.
- Review listing of suggested accounts to be closed with Branch Manager.

Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to collection methods and techniques.
- Knowledge of procedural and legal aspects of collecting.
- Knowledge of basic mathematical concepts, basic accounting principles, and use of spreadsheets.
- Skill in evaluating information or situations and making judgments based on facts.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
