The Role..

A key member of the Soho Home Quality, Compliance and Technical (QCT) Team working in collaboration with Product Design, Development and Production. You’ll be required to provide Technical Design and Technical Documentation support in delivering new product developments in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Reviewing and interpreting technical dimension drawings, updating technical drawings, creating technical documents including risk assessments, technical specifications, tolerance agreements and ensuring product manuals are clear, concise and accurate. 

This is a full-time role based in our Soho, London office with a focus on the Technical Design and Technical Documentation of Soho Home Hard Goods. Ensuring product technical drawings and documents are aligned with the original design intent, meet all product safety compliance requirements and represent production. Maintaining detailed and accurate product technical drawings, documents and files to assist in the delivery of well designed, high-quality and fully compliant product.

What you will bring...

The ideal candidate will have a technical design and engineering-based background / education with good knowledge in manufacturing hard good products. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical design ability, be highly detailed-orientated and naturally collaborative. Prior experience in a retail or manufacturing technical design and technical documentation role is required with an interest in material engineering and product testing desirable.

  • Minimum of 1-2 years in Hard Good product technical design and documentation with the ability to interpret and create technical drawings.
  • Working knowledge in manufacturing, materials and product technical documentation requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail with a clear focus on high quality product design and production.
  • Naturally collaborative with good interpersonal skills, communicating effectively and analytically in a clear and concise manner with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A Positive outlook to problem solving and willing to be part of the solution.
  • Strong project and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Solidworks CAD, Keyshot, Adobe Suite, Illustrator, Photoshop and Microsoft suite.

Key Responsibilities...

As the Technical Designer you’ll ensure technical drawings and technical documentation for the brand are consistent and aligned with the original design intent and quality expectation. You’ll provide day to day support to the team to ensure product technical drawings and technical documentation are accurate, complete and delivered within a tight deadline.

  • Review, interpret and create technical drawings to ensure they are aligned with the original design intent and quality standards.
  • Review product construction details in collaboration with the QCT, Design and Development team to support in providing clear feedback.
  • Conduct robust product risk assessment of designs to ensure the construction is safe, durable and fit for purpose meeting UK, EU and US product safety standards.
  • Prepare Material and Product Tolerance Agreements and Technical Specification in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review product instruction manuals to ensure the proposed assembly and installation is clear, correct, concise and safe
  • Ensure all Product Technical Documentation is produced on time, effectively filed and maintained.
  • Clearly articulate, maintain and manage technical drawings and documentation, demonstrating due diligence for all internal and external partners.
  • Support as and when required with new designs for existing Range extensions and product continuous improvements.
  • Participate in team projects aligned to core business objectives.
