Babington House...
Situated in a Grade II-listed manor built in 1705, Babington House is surrounded by 18 acres of English countryside in the heart of Somerset. Just 30 minutes from Bath, it’s the ultimate countryside escape for rest, relaxation and seasonal dining. With 33 bedrooms spread across Babington’s historic buildings, Cabins and Lodges, the club features a formal dining space in the Orangery, serving a unique menu centred around seasonal and local produce. There’s also a cricket pitch and tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, a gym and original Cowshed Spa.
The Role…
We are seeking an experienced Deli Assistant to join our team at Babington House (BA11 3RW). At Soho House, a Deli Assistant plays an essential role in delivering refined, attentive, and personalised service to our members and guests. Your main responsibility is to ensure that members have an enjoyable experience whilst visiting the deli. You will deliver excellent service from initial greeting, taking orders, making recommendations and taking payments.
Key duties...
- Greet and serve customers in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Prepare hot and cold drinks to barista standards (training provided).
- Assist with food preparation, plating, and service at the deli counter.
- Clear tables, wash up, and keep dining and service areas tidy.
- Restock shelves, fridges, and displays to ensure products are always available and presented to standard.
- Handle payments and operate the till accurately.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures at all times.
- Support with opening and closing duties, including cleaning and stock checks.
- Ensuring you are asking members about any allergy of dietary requirements.
- Possess a strong understanding of the food and drink menu in order to make recommendations on pairings and any other specific member requests.
- Enquiring if the members are satisfied with food or drink and asking if they need anything else. Accommodating special requests where possible to create a positive outcome that will result in a memorable experience.
What we are looking for in a Deli Assistant...
- 1-2 years’ experience in a busy high-profile bar (preferred but not essential)
- Team player who communicates well with all colleagues
- Punctual, reliable and trustworthy
- Sense of urgency
- Yes, yes, yes mentality
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Have a genuine passion for food and beverage
- Flexible and available to working both opening and closing shifts when required
Expected working hours for a Deli Assistant:
- Varying shift times across the seven days, to include working evenings, weekends, opens & closes
- Average hours 32-45 hours per week
Travel: Approx. 30 minutes from Bath, 50 minutes from Bristol & 10 mins from Frome (No local transport from Frome)
