The Senior Director of Communications ensures consistency in brand voice, visual identity, and messaging across all channels-digital, print, and events. Working closely with the international leadership team, the Senior Director ensures that brand positioning is relevant, resonant, and consistent across all geographies.

This role promotes executive and subject matter expert thought leadership and serves as a key liaison to client communications teams, supporting media outreach and brand visibility on national and local levels. The Director will partner with senior leaders to drive innovation, manage high-profile events, and build relationships with media and industry stakeholders.

Responsibilities include overseeing a team that manages global social media, internal communications, and change management in collaboration with departments like HR, IT, and Finance. We're looking for a strategic leader with strong messaging and crisis communication skills, proven media relations experience, and the ability to bring fresh, bold ideas to engage diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with functional leaders, across both the North American Leadership team and a Global Executive Committee, to gather information and develop responses to reporters
  • Manage external agencies, within an agreed upon budget, to ensure KPIs are exceeded and share of voice is increased compared to key competitors
  • Closely monitor awards/recognition submission lists to ensure we have a cadence of appearances at relevant industry events
  • Oversee the process of monitoring media, competitors and issues that are key to the organization's reputation
  • Be the steady, authoritative, nuanced presence in times of crisis communications
  • Build and foster relationships with SMEs across the global Sodexo organization, and maintain working relationships with members of the global communications team
  • Manage internal communications efforts, which include, but are not limited to: bimonthly newsletters and supporting content for quarterly internal town halls and all-hands meetings
  • Facilitate the deployment of global communications content and materials, and customize for North America
  • Oversee social media strategy across LinkedIn, Instagram and X with country leads for France and the UK/Ireland, and other Sodexo Live! entities
  • Lead website content updates in collaboration with Marketing
  • Working closely with Marketing, ensure consistency in visual identity, tone of voice, and messaging
  • Implement processes and frameworks to ensure brand consistency across business units
  • Provide guidance on corporate storytelling, press relations, crisis communications, and positioning strategies that align with overarching business goals
  • Establish and manage project workflow, internal processes, and cross-team coordination

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience within PR and/or internal communications or related fields
  • Ability to turn complex "client-oriented" messages into compelling stories that will resonate with the media, in internal platforms and on social channels
  • Ability to be pragmatic and manage a fluid and sometimes fast-moving workload
  • Agency background a plus
  • Multicultural awareness; ability to liaise with international teams
  • Assist in diverse Sodexo Live! activities, recognizing that teamwork depends on occasionally stepping outside one's direct responsibilities to support the organization's broader goals
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, and attention to detail
  • Willingness to influence and communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Self-starter who can balance multiple priorities simultaneously, able to work to tight deadlines, establish clear priorities and maintain professionalism under pressure
  • High computer competency, including familiarity with Microsoft platforms
