About the Role
Here at Sodexo Live, we service and operate the Galleys on board the Washington State Ferries as well as landside operations. We are seeking a highly organized, hands-on, and people-focused Operations supervisor to support daily operations across union and non-union personnel in Anacortes. This role is critical to ensuring smooth day-to-day activities, effective communication, strong leadership, and consistent operational excellence. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver, capable mentor, and someone comfortable jumping in wherever needed to keep things running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Personnel Management
- Communicate effectively with all personnel, including union and non-union staff.
- Address and resolve issues involving staff promptly and professionally.
- Coach and mentor employees, supervisors, warehouse teams, and vending staff.
- Assist with hiring efforts, including interviewing candidates and supporting them through the onboarding process.
- Maintain ongoing communication with new hires while they await credential processing (e.g., MMC).
- Conduct new hire orientations and distribute uniforms, keys, badges, and related materials.
- Support leadership (including Operations Manager) with operational tasks as needed.
- Keep constant and open communication with all Management, including Payroll, Human Resources, the Operations Director, and the General Manager.
Operational Oversight
- Address and troubleshoot equipment-related issues.
- Handle all money-related responsibilities accurately and securely.
- Assist with warehouse activities, including ordering, product handling, and putting away stock when needed.
- Prepare orders for vessels and landside operations.
- Push carts, strip boats, and set up boats as needed to support daily operations.
- Work operational shifts when required and assist with shift coverage.
- Fill employee Time Off Request and ensure scheduling needs are consistently met.
- Maintain and update the availability sheet.
- Review new bid sheets before posting.
- Order office supplies as needed.

Administrative & Support Duties
- Send invoices as required.
- Support hiring workflows and ensure new employees move smoothly through onboarding steps.
- Assist with operational tasks, special projects, and leadership directives as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience mentoring and coaching staff at multiple levels.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on operational environment.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and comfort with addressing equipment or staffing issues.
- High level of reliability, professionalism, and integrity with money-handling tasks.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as pushing carts or assisting with boat setup.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in maritime, food service, transportation, logistics, or ferry system operations.
- Experience working with union and non-union labor.
- Familiarity with scheduling, shift coverage, and bid processes.
Credentials:
- Merchant Mariner Credential (Optional/Can obtain upon hiring)
- TWIC Card
- Food Handlers Permit
- Mast (Class 12)
