Sodexo is seeking a Food Operations Manager 2 to support our food service operations at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, NY. This leadership role reports directly to the General Manager and oversees a team of approximately 70 unionized employees across kitchen, retail, and patient dining services.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff Oversight & Scheduling:
    • Create and manage schedules for all hourly employees
    • Ensure compliance with bargaining unit contract agreements
    • Manage time and attendance; address disciplinary matters as needed
    • Provide coverage for managers during absences, including holidays and weekends
  • Safety & Sanitation Leadership:
    • Conduct 3 test trays weekly and 2 SAULS safety walks with documentation
    • Lead the department's safety program, including training, monthly meetings, and 100% documentation
    • Oversee kitchen sanitation program and communicate updates to the Director

  • Manage and document training programs for all staff
  • Develop and coach team members, including Retail Manager and Lead Workers
  • Drive initiatives to improve staff efficiency and productivity
  • Compliance & Standards:
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with Sodexo and SBH standards across all areas: retail, kitchen, catering, and patient services
    • Assist with patient rounding in the manager's absence
    • Support monthly PI operations projects and financial reporting
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Collaborate with the Director to improve processes, procedures, and service standards
    • Participate in department-wide projects and uphold Sodexo and SBH code of conduct policies

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Minimum Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
    Minimum Management Experience - 2 years
    Minimum Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
