This position will support the food and beverage (athletics) operations for the University of Florida and the University of Mississippi.
Job Overview:
The District Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and optimizing food and beverage operations at the University of Mississippi and the University of Florida. This strategic leadership role ensures high-quality service delivery, operational excellence, financial performance, and exceptional student and client satisfaction across both campuses. The District Manager will manage on-site teams, ensure compliance with university and company standards, and cultivate strong relationships with university stakeholders.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage annual budgets for both campus operations; ensure revenue targets and cost controls are met.
- Analyze financial reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the universities and the food service organization.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with university administration, student groups, and community partners.
- Lead and develop multi-unit management leadership teams.
- Foster a positive work culture focused on growth, accountability, diversity, and inclusion.
- Attend regular client meetings to report on performance metrics, address concerns, and align on strategic goals.
- Oversee all aspects of dining operations across both universities in retail outlets, catering services, concessions, and premium.
- Ensure consistency and excellence in food quality, safety, customer service, and brand standards.
- Monitor and evaluate operational efficiency; implement process improvements to maximize performance and guest satisfaction.
- Drive innovation in menus, service delivery, sustainability, and technology.
- Stay informed of campus trends, competitor activities, and national dining innovations to keep both campuses ahead of industry standards.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive management experience in food service or hospitality, including multi-unit leadership.
- Proven experience managing large-scale university or institutional dining programs.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing multi-million dollar budgets.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel regularly between Oxford, MS and Gainesville, FL (approx. 40-50%).
- Experience working within a contract food service organization.
- Knowledge of current food service technologies (POS systems, inventory, labor management).
- Familiarity with campus culture and university food trends.
Other Requirements:
- Mobility is needed to attend various meetings and events onsite. Travel is required.
- Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
