Location: We are seeking an experienced Catering Sales Manager for Huntington Place located in Detroit, Michigan.

Unit Description:

Huntington Place is a premier convention center located in downtown Detroit along the International Riverfront. The facility spans approximately 2.4 million square feet, including over 723,000 square feet of exhibit space, a 40,000-square-foot Grand Riverview Ballroom, and more than 100 meeting and banquet rooms. It hosts major events such as the North American International Auto Show and serves over a million visitors annually.

Job Overview:

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for generating food and beverage revenue through the sale of catering packages to corporate, social, and group clients. This role works closely with clients to understand their event vision and budget, develops proposals, and collaborates with culinary and operations teams to deliver seamless catered experiences.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Sell catering food and beverage packages through prospecting, proposals, and client relationship development.
• Work with clients to understand event needs, budgets, and menu preferences, tailoring package recommendations accordingly.
• Collaborate with culinary and banquet teams to prepare pricing, menus, proposals, and event details.
• Conduct tastings, site visits, and pre-event meetings to guide clients through menu and package selections.
• Manage an assigned portfolio of accounts, cultivating repeat business and referrals.
• Upsell premium menu items, specialty beverages, and enhancements to increase event revenue.
• Partner with operations staff during events to ensure delivery meets client expectations.
• Maintain accurate sales activity and revenue reporting in CRM systems.
• Stay current on catering and hospitality trends to promote innovative package offerings.
• Deliver outstanding customer service before, during, and after events.

Qualifications / Skills

• Bachelor's degree in business, hospitality management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 1+ years of experience in catering or event sales.
• Strong knowledge of food, beverage, and catering service operations.
• Excellent communication and client service skills.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple events simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems

Other Requirements:

• Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment.
• Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
