Technical Writer, AR Developer Experience

From developing creative new Lens features for Snapchat, to supporting the continuous growth and evolution of Lens Studio (our platform for an ever-increasing community of AR creators), to designing the cutting-edge computer vision and machine learning technology that makes face transformation Lenses possible — we are working hard on our mission to bring AR to more people, places, and moments, every day.

We’re  looking for a Technical Writer to join Snap’s AR Developer Experience to create educational resources that enable developers around the world to create innovative AR experiences with our Lens technology and developer tools. 

What you’ll do:

• Design, draft, and edit self-paced technical documentation and curricular materials for Lens Studio

• Create the templates and framework for creating new easy-to-read and find documentation

• Work with product, engineering and marketing to generate content for a wide audience

• Organize documentation and information to make it more understandable and discoverable

• Invent new ways to convey complex information to a technical audience 

• You will be one of the first to try Snap’s new developer tools and APIs. You're not afraid to roll your sleeves up to write code snippets and get hands-on with sample applications. Even better, you can articulate ways they can be improved to make all developers’ lives easier. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to author documentation to concisely convey technical information

• Familiar with technical concepts like software engineering, developer tools, and APIs

• Self-directed and curious writer who works well with a variety of technologies and teams

• Excellent organizational and communication skills

• Excellent writing and comprehension skills with English vocabulary, spelling and grammar

• Deep empathy for developers coupled with a passion for teaching

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS/BA degree in a related field such as technical writing, english, computer science or equivalent years of experience

• 2+ years of experience as a hands-on technical writer

• Writing samples submitted with application

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience authoring developer platform documentation

• Experience using JavaScript APIs

• Experience with automated documentation tools and/or localizing documentation

• Experience with Augmented Reality or Video Game Development products

• A passion for Snapchat and creativity!
