We're looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join the Voisey team! As a member of this team you will collaborate with our internal Engineering and Product teams, as well as teams in the wider Snap organization, to create and deliver reliable, high quality backend systems to power amazing user experiences in Voisey’s mobile and web applications.

What you’ll do:

  • Play a key role in architecture, design and implementation of the next generation of Voisey’s backend systems.

  • Own and drive high-level features from planning through implementation, be involved in all stages of the software development lifecycle, and solve complex technical challenges

  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to bring product ideas to life

  • Work across teams to understand product requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver the solutions needed to build innovative products

  • Advocate for and apply best practices when it comes to availability, scalability, operational excellence, and cost management

  • Carefully evaluate the technical tradeoffs of major decisions

  • Build robust, lasting, and scalable products

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience with backend services or distributed systems

  • Proven track record of operating highly-available systems at significant scale

  • You understand the operational aspects of the system you work on and may participate in incident or hotfix investigation and resolution

  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals

  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and with other team members

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • BS/BA degree in a relevant technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent years of experience

  • 5+ years of software development experience in industry

  • Experience building backend services in node.js/Typescript

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform and/or Google Firebase

  • Experience with Kubernetes, GraphQL, NoSQL solutions and/or graph databases like Neo4j

  • Experience with Golang and/or Java

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, CircleCi or equivalent tools

  • Experience with video transcoding and media delivery

  • Deep seated desire to create outstanding user experiences
