Sinclair has an exciting leadership opportunity for a Senior Editor! We are searching for a passionate journalist with a keen eye for breaking news around the country. In this role, you will lead a team of talented writers, guiding them to produce high-quality content. This position requires a quick worker who cares deeply about being "first" to report distinctive stories while also maintaining the highest standard of accuracy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a small team of approximately four writers, who are talented, motivated, and dependable. Provide guidance and support to ensure their work meets Sinclair's high standards.
  • Rapidly write digital news stories about breaking topics
  • Identify newsworthy topics for Sinclair's nationwide digital news audience
  • Collaborate with broadcast producers to translate digital stories into broadcast stories
  • Evaluate coworkers' digital stories before publishing
  • Front short video adaptations of digital stories to be published on Sinclair platforms
REQUIREMENTS

  • 1-3+ years experience in digital news writing
  • Previous managerial or supervisory experience required
  • Ability to utilize an online content management system
  • Fluent in AP Style
  • Bachelor's degree or higher preferred
  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite is a plus
*This is an in-office role, 5 days a week at our Sinclair Headquarters located at 10706 Beaver Dam Road, Hunt Valley, MD 21030.

The base salary compensation range for this role is $90,000 to $100,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
