Lifestyle Host/Producer
ABC 13-WSET, the ABC affiliate serving the greater Lynchburg area, is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and highly organized Lifestyle Host/Producer for our weekday lifestyle program.
This role will help shape and produce a 30-minute, pre-recorded program airing weekdays at 12:30 p.m. The ideal candidate is a strong on-air communicator, creative storyteller, and collaborative teammate who can connect naturally with viewers, guests, community partners, and sales clients.
You will host lifestyle, entertainment, community, and paid promotional segments; help produce daily content from concept through final production; and represent ABC 13 professionally in studio, in the field, and across digital and social platforms.
Responsibilities
- Host engaging pre-recorded lifestyle, community, entertainment, and sponsored segments in studio and in the field.
- Help plan, produce, write, and organize daily shows, including rundowns, interviews, teases, scripts, graphics, and production elements.
- Work closely with Sales to coordinate, prepare, and deliver client-sponsored segments that meet station standards and client expectations.
- Communicate directly with clients to schedule interviews, shoots, production needs, and segment details.
- Help book guests and develop relevant, compelling local content that connects with the community.
- Conduct clear, conversational interviews with guests, clients, and community leaders.
- Collaborate with production staff, management, Sales, and Marketing to ensure each program is polished, accurate, and ready for air.
- Create and order graphics and other visual elements for paid and non-paid segments.
- Participate in pre-production meetings and contribute ideas for themed programs, special events, and long-range content.
- Contribute content for WSET.com and station social media platforms, identifying opportunities to extend the show's reach and audience engagement.
- Represent ABC 13 at community events and occasional field shoots as needed.
- Manage multiple deadlines and production priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Production, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Strong on-camera presence with the ability to deliver interviews and information in a warm, natural, and engaging manner.
- Excellent writing, communication, interviewing, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with clients, sponsors, guests, and community partners in a professional setting is a plus.
- Ability to produce sponsored content while maintaining strong editorial judgment and production quality.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Creative, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
- Experience with newsroom, rundown, editing, graphics, and social media tools is a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot production challenges and adapt quickly.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Flexibility to work occasional weekends, holidays, community events, and adjusted schedules as needed.
The base hourly compensation range for this role is $16.82 to $18.26 per hour. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates' relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full-time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
