Overview:

SimVentions, consistently recognized as one of Virginia’s Best Places to Work, is seeking a skilled Test Engineer to provide software engineering support for our Navy customer. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Linux and Windows Operating Systems (OS), SQL, command line use, and scripting. They will execute integration and test activities and support software/systems engineering within a dynamic Agile environment, working on high-impact projects related to Electronic Warfare (EW) systems. This position offers the opportunity to work with both SimVentions and government personnel in a collaborative, dynamic environment and plays an integral role in designing, implementing, testing, and integrating complex software systems.

An ACTIVE Secret Clearance is required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

Requirements:
  • 5-10 years of experience software development/software engineering.
  • Proficiency with Linux, Agile, Scrum, SQL, RHEL OS, and Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word and Excel).
  • Proficiency in command line and scripting.
  • Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Knowledge of system integration of software integration principles and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Combat Systems integration, test, and certification activities.
  • Proficiency conducting software integration and test activities and test/verification efforts.
  • Proficiency developing technical documents, such as test reports, plans, and procedures.
  • Ability to utilize technical documentation/requirements to prepare test plans and reports, analyze data, and present conclusions to a technical audience.
  • Understand and execute requirements tracing.
  • Clear and articulate verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to problem solve and use analytical skills to diagnose issues and identify solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, provide high quality services and products, while meeting strict deadlines and time constraints.
  • Ability to work within cross-functional teams, collaborate with designers, product managers, and other developers.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct software integration and testing activities to ensure system functionality and performance.
  • Analyze and diagnose issues using strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify effective solutions.
  • Collaborate within a software development or integrated product team, adhering to defined plans, processes, and procedures.
  • Execute verification and validation efforts for software and systems.
  • Understand, follow, and apply requirements tracing throughout the testing lifecycle.
  • Utilize technical documentation and system requirements to develop test plans, analyze test results, and present findings to technical audiences.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including test procedures, reports, and plans.
  • Apply knowledge of network routing and switching in support of testing and integration efforts.
  • Leverage automation test tools and frameworks such as Robot Framework, Sikuli, Cucumber, or Selenium, when applicable.
  • Apply principles and methodologies of system and software integration.
  • Support Combat Systems integration, testing, and certification activities.
  • Operate effectively in a Linux-based environment, including command line usage and scripting for daily task execution.
  • Utilize Agile methodologies and participate in Agile ceremonies (e.g., scrum, sprint planning, sprint review, backlog grooming, retrospectives).
  • Conduct log data analysis following test case execution in a Linux environment.
  • Evaluate new system requirements and functionalities from an Integration & Test (I&T) perspective.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze Trouble Observation Reports (TORs) to identify defects or verify compliance with requirements.
  • Develop and update regression and integration test procedures that comprehensively validate system requirements.
  • Generate situation reports (SITREPs) and TORs based on internal and external testing activities.
  • Troubleshoot test configurations and basic hardware equipment issues.
  • Verify and validate user stories and defect fixes (ticket verification) on test assets.
  • Maintain timely and accurate ticket status updates in Jira to inform stakeholders.
  • Develop and review test cases for new feature development and bug fixes in coordination with developers.
  • Demonstrate clear verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information effectively.
  • Utilize tools and technologies such as Linux, Agile, Scrum, SQL, RHEL OS, Microsoft Word, and Excel in daily tasks.
Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Knowledge of Network routing and switching.
• Knowledge of automation test tools/frameworks (i.e. Robot Framework, Sikuli, Cucumber, selenium).
• Electronic Warfare subject matter knowledge and expertise.
• Weapon control systems subject matter knowledge and expertise.

Education: Bachelor's of Science (BS) in Engineering or similar. Compensation:

Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements.

 

The projected annual compensation range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 (USD). This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that SimVentions offers.
