We are currently seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our Brightly Team in Cairo, Egypt.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of innovative and high-performing features for our next-generation software applications.
  • Apply extensive expertise in computer science and programming principles, integrating empirical professional experience to develop innovative solutions.
  • Develop, integrate, and document libraries and frameworks to facilitate scalable development across multiple projects, serving as common services or components used by multiple products, while adhering to scope, cost, time, and quality constraints.
  • Implement and oversee quality assurance throughout the agile product lifecycle, encompassing requirements, design, coding, testing, delivery, and support.
  • Create clear, maintainable solutions that adhere to, enhance, or complement existing standards within a professional software engineering environment, incorporating practices such as source control, shortened release cycles, continuous integration, and deployment.
  • Understand and communicate company objectives and metrics, aligning them with the technical goals of the team.
  • Design a scalable Extract Transfer Load (ETL) framework capable of integrating with utility vendors and adapting to changes in their portals. Translate user requirements into technical specifications and contribute as a technical Subject Matter Expert during product planning sessions.
  • Provide support for our products, including identifying and resolving root causes of production incidents, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues across teams.
  • Lead efforts in discovery, solutioning, monitoring, and incident resolution, promoting and instilling a DevOps mindset within the team.
  • Take ownership of product quality and promptly address production defects.
  • Foster a DevOps culture within the team and keep abreast of current technology trends, mentoring and guiding junior engineers and interns.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, development managers, product managers, and agile coaches in an agile environment, with scrum implemented at scale globally.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in computer engineering, computer science or any related discipline.
  • +5 years of experience in data structures and algorithms, object-oriented programming, databases, SQL, design patterns, SOLID principles, and cloud technologies (such as AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Java and Python languages, as well as in developing REST services, microservices, and integrating with third-party APIs.
  • Experience with unit testing, mocking frameworks, and automation frameworks.
  • Demonstrated DevOps mindset with over 3 years of experience in a mature CI/CD SDLC environment, including implementation of exception handling, logging, monitoring, performance measurement, and knowledge of operational metrics.
  • Proven track record of working in agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to coordinate with teams in North America.
