Research Engineer - Data Science & AI Applications

About the Role
We are seeking a curious, driven, and hands-on Research Engineer to join our Business Analytics team focused on developing cutting-edge AI and data science solutions. You will play a key role in executing technology innovation initiatives-contributing both individually and collaboratively with internal teams and external partners. This is an exciting opportunity to work on impactful research projects, transform ideas into working prototypes, and bring emerging technologies into real-world applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement data-driven solutions by applying machine learning models (especially classification and regression using techniques like XGBoost).
- Perform end-to-end data science workflows: data collection, preprocessing, EDA, modeling, validation, and deployment.
- Build and maintain RESTful services and APIs using FastAPI for model inference and data processing.
- Develop interactive dashboards using Power BI or R Shiny to present data insights and model outputs.
- Contribute to developing LLM-based applications and AI Agents involving various techniques such as RAG.
- Integrate solutions with traditional and vector database systems (e.g., ClickHouse, Weaviate).
- Participate in internal research projects and collaborations with external stakeholders.
- Transfer research results into actionable tools for product and service teams.
- Support and coach junior team members or visiting interns.
- Present research outcomes in internal and external forums, including Learning Days and project meetings.
Required Skills & Experience
- 2-4 years of hands-on experience in data science, machine learning, or AI application development.
- Proficiency in Python; working knowledge of R is a strong advantage.
- Experience with FastAPI and building REST APIs.
- Solid grasp of machine learning fundamentals, especially classification and regression models.
- Strong capabilities in data analysis, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
- Basic understanding of frontend technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools like Power BI and/or R Shiny.
- Working knowledge of LLMs, AI agents, and related technologies is desirable.
- Understanding of relational and vector databases and integrating with APIs/services.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
