What's the role
Shell is seeking a Regional Turnaround Assurance Manager who is a subject matter expert (SME) in turnaround management, planning, and execution. This role operates within the central Shell Maintenance, Reliability and Turnarounds organization and reports to the central Turnarounds Manager. The purpose of the position is to support asset turnaround delivery and drive performance improvement through assurance, training, optimization, risk assessment, and other related support activities across all Lines of Business (LOB) within the assigned region of responsibility.
The role covers Assets across all the America's region from Canada to South America and therefore involves working across time zones as required to suit business needs. The role may be carried out in a hybrid arrangement from home or a regional Shell office to suit time zones and working patterns. It includes regular travel to Asset facilities for typically 1 week but up to 2 weeks at a time. Overall travel demand is estimated up to 50%.
Accountabilities:
Deliver Turnaround support programs including:
- Development of asset specific assurance plans and post execution Lessons Learned
- Delivery of Turnaround assurance reviews, scope, risk and schedule workshops using associated global tools and templates
- Preparation of reports indicating the status of Turnaround events, key risks and mitigating actions
- Assist in connecting Assets to other specialist resources, Shell internal, 3rd parties and vendors as may be required to support their activities
- Engage and align stakeholders at all levels of the business to ensure common understanding of status, risks and opportunities, and help create an informed, supportive ecosystem for the Turnaround event
- Support Asset stakeholders in understanding their planned downtime Gap to potential, and provide technical insight and expertise to develop and deliver effective improvement plans
- Leverage various sources of internal and external industry data, benchmarking, trends, KPI's and reports to better inform and drive Turnaround performance
- Lead and facilitate the regional Turnaround Process Owner and Process Focal Point network, working to inform and strengthen the community, share best practice and leverage learnings
- Seek out, develop and adopt best practices and new technologies, encouraging replication across assets to leverage benefits
- Develop, maintain, and deliver various Turnaround training packages to suit asset requirements
- Coach, mentor, and develop site personnel, support capability building and skill-pool management
- Support the Central Turnaround Manager to implement and maintain effective Standards and Practices, related documentation and tools
What you bring
- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Bachelor's degree is preferred
- Minimum of 10+ years of major turnaround experience and maintenance field work execution combined with 5+ years of leadership experience
- Experience in turnaround standards and practices, and their practical application
- Skilled in turnaround planning and execution across various asset types and settings
- Proficient in turnaround scheduling tools and methodologies, including probabilistic analysis
- Experience in Business Risk management processes and tools
- Understanding of TA Cost management and control
- Experience of Contracting and Procurement strategies, processes, practical implementation and management
- Experience in contractor management including HSE, Scope, Competency, Quality and Costs
- Experience in scope development, optimization and management, including change management, prioritization (e.g. J-Factor) and optimization
- Ability to engage and influence business leaders, managers and teams, to motivate, coach and train others
What we offer
The base salary range for this position is $174,000 - $262,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives.
