What's the role

Shell is seeking a Real Estate Asset Protection Manager to join their team in New Orleans, Louisiana. This role will be responsible for five core land-based sites. These sites range from Class A office spaces to industrial facilities within the Gulf Coast region, along with various remote facilities across Louisiana.

This role is responsible for managing Shell's global Real Estate portfolio, Shell Business Operations, and the Corporate Travel program. The mission is to support Shell businesses by creating safe, secure, and productive environments that enable people to perform at their best. With over 400 professionals globally, Real Estate (RE), in partnership with strategic service providers, oversees a wide range of assets including offices, industrial facilities, laboratories, land holdings, residential units, and camp accommodations across Shell's businesses, projects, and ventures. RE manages an annual spend of $1 billion (OPEX + CAPEX), directly impacting the daily experience of more than 80,000 employees and contractors.

Real Estate Asset Protection is undergoing a transformation to align more closely with Shell's Powering Progress strategy. The focus is on enhancing performance, enforcing discipline, and simplifying operations to maintain a cost-effective and energy-efficient portfolio. RE is expected to deliver competitive, resilient, and risk-based solutions by providing safe, inclusive, and inspiring workplaces, adapting to portfolio changes, and ensuring clear accountability. Shell's RE professionals are recognized as leaders in the Corporate Real Estate (CRE) sector, known for their ability to build and manage portfolios that meet evolving business needs. The RE organization is structured into three Regional Delivery Teams (Americas, EMEA, and Asia Oceania) and three Centres of Excellence. This role sits within a sub-regional delivery team, where the Asset Protection Manager works alongside specialists under the leadership of a Head of RE or RE Manager. This role is based on-site and requires frequent presence at the designated location(s) to effectively fulfill responsibilities. Regular travel may be necessary, and you may also be expected to work outside of standard hours, including weekends, to respond to incidents or support events as needed.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage the asset protection contract partner in the delivery of asset, personnel protection and related services within the RE budget (budget holder/owner)
  • Responsible for daily operational security at sites, ensuring and coordinating delivery of operational security, guarding, reception, access control, incident management, site and visitor parking compliance and vehicle compliance per site regulations
  • Contribute as a key team member in emergency response and business continuity activities, in coordination with the business continuity team, working closely with the RE Manager Gulf of America
  • Work with Corporate Security to ensure assured, consistent and aligned within the wider Country Security Plan along with the implementation of global security projects
  • Engage proactively with the business to ensure smooth delivery of business-led initiatives such as on- and off-site events, VIP visits, or group visits
  • Coordinate with Corporate Security, maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships (including but not limited to law enforcement, local government and state government contacts, industry security partners and forums)
  • Ensure contract performance management of the asset protection contract partner, in conjunction with Contract Performance Management team
  • Responsible for access control, visitor experience and management, ensuring that Shell staff and visitors feel welcome, safe and proud
  • Conduct Security Risk Assessments, develop Security plans as needed and LODs as applicable and manage to completion
  • Provide clear input to enable RE projects and facility management success
  • Maintain awareness to integrate best practices and emerging insights into internal operations of security and networks


What you bring
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience as a Real Estate Asset Protection Manager
  • Must have extensive experience in managing asset protection, corporate security operations, executive protection, and vendor contracts, with a focus on performance and compliance, aligned with Shell's contract management processes
  • Must have experience conducting risk assessments, identifying threats and vulnerabilities, providing programmatic mitigation for identified risks, and effectively transferring knowledge to others
  • Knowledge of relevant Louisiana legislation, government relations, Louisiana specific procedures and guidelines, necessary to enact or perform within in operation normal scenarios and during potential or actual security incidents is required
  • Must have a knowledge and experience with incident management, crisis management, emergency response and business continuity
  • Must be willing and able to respond to incidents beyond normal working hours, often with little direct supervision


What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $122,000 - $182,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
