What's the role
MRTA is about understanding and maintaining our equipment as effectively and efficiently as possible, making sure it performs as intended. The Maintenance discipline covers the development of maintenance strategies and the planning, coordination, and execution of maintenance activities. Maintenance ensures safe, defect-free, and efficient operations through the regular upkeep of equipment and tools in the most cost-efficient and timely manner.
What you'll be doing
- Comply with all HSSE regulations, policies, standards, practices, and actively participate in improving plant safety culture
- Operate tools and machinery to effect assigned work. This may include welding, rotating equipment, solids & liquids transfer systems, chemical hazards, and other work in an industrial facility
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance work as assigned. Can include, but is not limited to: pump rebuilds, filter changes, peristaltic hose change-outs, pneumatic ram replacements, and other repairs to plant equipment. This will include using a laser alignment tool, sheave alignment tools, belt tension tools, etc.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures with little to no diagnostic information
- Troubleshoot and service vibrating tray dryers
- Perform operational support activities which can include, but are not limited to: dryer deck changeouts, centrifuge cleanouts, and cleaning twin screw pumps with methanol
- Maintain blowers on process heaters and incinerators
- Service the Fischbein and Columbia Okura bagging and packaging equipment
- Gather vibration data on various pumps, motors, and blowers for the plant's vibration analysis program
- Maintain auto-lubrication systems on various pieces of equipment
- Troubleshoot, fix, or replace automated process valves
- Provide mechanical and operability feedback to capital projects
- Manually lube and grease pump and motor bearings not on auto-lubrication systems
- Service bulk packaging equipment including iris valves, Rotex screeners, bucket elevators, and bulk bag loaders
- Perform preventive maintenance on shipping dock locks and level equipment
- Use a computer in daily routine, including data entry into a computerized maintenance management system
Read and comprehend drawings including, but not limited to: plant layout, P&ID, and equipment drawings - Operate boom lifts, scissor lifts, and forklifts
- Work in a chemical manufacturing environment
- Identify and implement equipment improvements to increase plant reliability
- Communicate with operations employees, supervisors, and others regarding the identification of problems and completion of jobs in their area, both verbally and in writing
What we need from you
- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than the current employer
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years of current experience as a mechanic, millwright, or pipefitter in an industrial environment OR have completed (documented) training and/or certification in plant maintenance/millwright
- High School diploma/GED is required
- Willing to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation
- Able to communicate effectively with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders
- Willing to work in compact and confined spaces with or without accommodation
- Willing to climb ladders and scaffolding, walk up and down steps, and work at heights with or without accommodation
- Willing to work overtime
- Possess a current, valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States
- As part of the pre-employment selection process, candidates are required to submit to and receive satisfactory results from all pre-employment background, drug, medical, and reference checks, including hair drug testing

The rate for this position is $54.56. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, and internal equity.
