What's the role

The Shell USA Retail Team is seeking an Automotive Category Advisor (also known internally as the Retail Lubricants Category Advisor), supporting Walmart, responsible for Automotive Category Products. This role will be responsible for providing strategic guidance, Industry and category expertise, developing Point-of-Sale and Plan-O-Gram/Assortment analysis and recommendations. This position will be working directly with buyers, directors, and other customer staff to proactively identify trends and opportunities that support the strategic goals of the customer and Shell. Role involves working with proprietary & confidential customer POS, syndicated data, public information, panel data and custom insights to help support strategic decisions and tactical execution.

This role requires strong analytical capabilities and a learner's mindset, combined with strong communication skills. Prior experience working with Walmart and a solid grasp of retail point-of-sale operations would be beneficial.

Ideal candidate will be based in the Northwest Arkansas region (Bentonville, Fayetteville) to allow for frequent face-to-face interactions with Walmart. Role will be a home-office based position with occasional domestic travel for internal meetings or customer events.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop Category Reviews identifying trends impacting the consumer, buying behaviors, impact of micro and macro-economic trends, to provide customer with information needed to determine assortment and grow the category
  • Collaborative initiate and coordinate insights projects directly engaging customer and Shell resources to develop and deliver actionable shopper/consumer insights that address customer priorities
  • Direct Involvement in the annual account Plan-o-gram (POG) performance review and planning process including performance tracking at the POG, Segment, Item, and store level
  • Develop and draw POG recommendations supported with POS analysis, industry data and marketplace knowledge


What you bring
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Bachelor's Degree in any related discipline is required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role; category management and retail experience required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products - mastery within Excel, ProSpace or other space planning tools, Power BI and data visualization tools
  • Exceptional communication skills that include verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Highly skilled in analytics and building actionable insights based on data
  • Experience working with syndicated data sources such as Circana/IRI; familiarity with Luminate preferred


What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $122,000 - $182,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
