Site Manager - Data Center (1-Year Fixed-Term Contract)

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Site Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a Data Center project, managing activities from Level 2 to Level 5. This role is crucial in ensuring seamless coordination among main contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams, while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and execution.
The successful candidate will be 90% based in the customer site & key aspects for the role are:
- Good communication with technical teams within a multi-country and multi-cultural environment, to ensure full customer (internal & external) satisfaction performance.
- Ability to interact with key stakeholders on site to ensure good deployment of the solutions (delay, schedules, issues management, troubleshooting, team coordination).
What will you do?
- Lead and manage daily site operations for the Data Center project (L2-L5).
- Coordinate with main contractors and subcontractors to ensure alignment and smooth execution.
- Develop and maintain two-week look-ahead plans for project activities.
- Ensure all changes to specifications, scope, and drawings are properly documented.
- Monitor and report project progress, risks, and opportunities to the main contractor and client.
- Review and forecast man-hours and durations for onshore project activities.
- Enforce and promote a strong safety culture in line with project safety standards.
- Prepare and implement the Project Execution Plan (Schneider Electric scope).
- Document lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle, including during close-out.

- On-Site Project Leadership - Proven ability to manage day-to-day site activities, coordinate with contractors, and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Planning & Forecasting - Skilled in developing short-term (e.g., 2-week lookahead) and long-term project plans, including resource and man-hour forecasting.
- Contractor Supervision - Experience in supervising subcontractors, ensuring quality delivery, and enforcing corrective actions when needed.
- Change Management - Ability to track and document changes in scope, specifications, and drawings effectively.
- Stakeholder Coordination - Strong communication skills to liaise with main contractors, clients, and internal teams.
- Progress & Risk Reporting - Capable of providing timely updates on project progress, risks, and opportunities.
- Safety-First Mindset - Deep understanding of safety standards and a commitment to promoting a safety culture on-site.
- Regulatory Awareness - Familiarity with local compliance requirements and statutory contributions.

Who will you report to?
- Report directly to the Project Management Team Leader - East Africa.
- This role operates within a dynamic, cross-functional project environment and involves close collaboration with: Schneider Electric Service Teams; Project Managers and Customer Site Managers.
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in on-site project management with a strong technical background in SCADA, HMI or Energy Management.
- Certifications in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) are an added advantage.
- Experience working in data center environments or other mission-critical infrastructure projects.
- Exposure to Schneider Electric systems or similar technologies is beneficial.
