Senior Engineer I, Electronics Hardware Design
The role requires a strong combination of technical problem-solving, manufacturing support, and product engineering expertise to ensure products are designed, validated, and manufactured to the highest quality standards. Through proactive engagement in product development, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives, the engineer plays a critical role in enhancing product performance, manufacturability, and long-term reliability while supporting business and operational objectives.
Your technical expertise contributes to the development of products and technologies that address complex challenges and align with industry standards. In this role, you exercise sound judgment in prioritizing work and making decisions, typically guided by precedent, best practices, and technical standards, with room for interpretation. You provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, reviewing their work and offering direction on non-routine or escalated issues. Your contributions are reviewed for overall accuracy and quality. You collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure full system integration and product success. Your work directly enhances product functionality, reliability, and market competitiveness through continuous research, issue identification, and experimentation in the field of electronic hardware. What will you do?
- Serve as the single point of escalation for technical issue resolution within manufacturing operations.
- Act as a technical reviewer during New Product Development (NPD), identifying and resolving potential issues before production release.
- Promote reuse of NPD components across divisions to reduce inventory obsolescence and improve operational efficiency.
- Support manufacturing teams in resolving technical issues that may impact equipment safety or operational integrity.
- Ensure that corrective actions during field failure resolutions consider safety implications and compliance with standards.
- Collaborate with Line of Business teams to resolve field failures through rapid corrective action (CA), especially during product startups.
- Drive continuous product quality improvement by proactively addressing manufacturing challenges and field issues.
- Inject value engineering concepts during NPD reviews and on legacy products to enhance product reliability and customer satisfaction
- Act as a technical mentor and escalation contact for manufacturing engineering teams, fostering technical knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, quality, and operations teams to build a culture of technical excellence.
- Lead efforts to reduce inventory obsolescence through strategic reuse of components and design standardization.
- Continuously improve product quality and manufacturing processes by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Support innovation and technical advancement aligned with Schneider Electric's commitment to excellence.
- Ensure all technical resolutions and product improvements adhere to internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in NPD reviews to ensure compliance with design and manufacturing protocols before production release.
What qualifications will make you successful?
- Graduate of BS Electrical or Electronics and Electrical Communications Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in design, product engineering, technical support, or manufacturing engineering within AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC power conversion systems or a similar electronics manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in product development, manufacturing support, root cause analysis, failure investigation, and continuous product improvement.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams during product introduction, validation, and production ramp-up activities.
- Experience in 3-Phase Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems greater than 10kVA is highly preferred.
- Exposure to value engineering, design-for-manufacturing (DFM), and product lifecycle management is an advantage.
