Regulatory - Electronics Hardware, Principal Technical Expert
Role
We are seeking an experienced Regulatory Hardware Engineer to join our R&D team based in Bangalore, India location.
The ideal candidate will lead certification and compliance efforts for intelligent sensing devices used in commercial building HVAC systems. This senior role requires deep expertise in regulatory standards, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure our products meet global safety, environmental, and performance requirements.
You will be a compliance champion, driving continuous improvement in our certification processes, tools, and documentation practices. This is a unique opportunity to expand your regulatory and technical expertise while supporting the development of customer-focused products deployed globally.

Responsibilities:
- Lead certification strategy and execution for environmental sensing products used in HVAC systems.
- Interpret and apply relevant standards (e.g., UL, CE, FCC, RCM,RoHS, REACH, ISO, ASHRAE) to product designs.
- Define and manage test plans for EMI/EMC, safety, environmental, and reliability compliance.
- Coordinate with external labs and certification bodies to schedule and execute testing.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and mechanical teams to ensure designs meet certification requirements.
- Maintain documentation for regulatory submissions, compliance reports, and audit readiness.
- Monitor changes in global regulatory requirements and assess impact on existing and future products.
- Provide technical guidance during product development to mitigate certification risks.
- Support internal and external audits and drive corrective actions as needed.
Core Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of environmental sensor technologies and their integration in HVAC systems.
- Deep understanding of regulatory standards and certification processes for electronic products.
- Experience with EMI/EMC testing, environmental stress testing, and safety compliance (UL916, UL1076, UL864, and UL61010).
- Experience with wireless protocol certification for global markets.
- Familiarity with HVAC industry standards and building automation protocols.
- Excellent documentation and project management skills.

- Familiarity with DFMEA/PFMEA and risk mitigation strategies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in product certification and regulatory compliance, preferably in HVAC or sensor-based applications.
- Proven track record of successful product certifications in global markets.
