Your mission?
Being part of the R&D team, the primary responsibility of this MSc thesis project is to investigate, analyse and simulate the usage of DC in critical applications (like Data Centers).
The purpose is to analyse more complex architectures like meshed grids, with which higher efficiency and redundancy levels can be achieved. This analysis should in the end be translated to requirements for DC/DC converters.
Responsibilities:
- Analyse and understand meshed DC grids
- Analyse and understand redundancy and efficiency requirements of future Data Centers
- Create a simulation model in Simulink to characterize the above main criteria (redundancy & efficiency) of the system as a whole
- Analyse the operating points of converters based on the selected architecture and provide design guidelines for optimizing the cost of the converters while maintaining high total system efficiency
- If time allows, design and simulate a DC/DC converter with the above provided design guidelines
Requirements:
- MSc student in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems or Power Electronics)
- Knowledge of power electronics
- Strong understanding of system design
- Basic experience with simulation tools (Simulink, SPICE, Mathcad)
- Strong communication skills for internal and customer presentations.
- Proactive mindset and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Fluency in English; Dutch is an advantage
