Duration? 4-6 months

Your mission?

Being part of the R&D team, the primary responsibility of this internship is to investigate the regenerative operation of motors coupled to DC grids via Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's). The internship is intended to further expand on an existing regenerative setup located on the DC Experience Center.

DC Regen Study - DC Systems:

  • Understand the regenerative operation.
  • Further expand the existing setup, so that more energy can be recuperated during the braking phase of the motor.
  • Provide an automatic way to control the VFD, via PLC or similar means, so that it .mimics an industrial process.
  • Provide means to acquire and store historical energy data of this setup.
  • Provide means to visualize the data on an HMI.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • HBO or MSc Electrical Engineering student
  • Knowledge of power electronics and ability to read schematic and PCB design (advantageous).
  • Basic understanding of analog electronics (plus).
  • Basic experience with simulation tools (Simulink, SPICE, Mathcad)
  • Basic experience with laboratory testing
  • Strong communication skills for internal and customer presentations.
  • Proactive mindset and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Fluency in English; Dutch is an advantage.
  • Technically Curious and Proactive: You are eager to explore innovative energy systems and take initiative.
  • Strong Communicator: You can clearly present technical findings to internal teams and customers.
