In this context, we are actively looking for a Forestry Project Lead within the Project Development and Management (PDM) team of the Nature Based Solutions Business Unit. He/She will report to the Forestry team Manager.
The Project Leader oversees the development of new carbon sequestration or removal projects, supervises their implementation during the investment phase and ensures their monitoring during all the carbon credits crediting period.
Main responsibilities include:
- Appraisal of identified opportunities: partners due diligence, carbon sequestration estimation, economic feasibility, legal and regulatory context analysis.
- Development and structuring of the project: business plan elaboration, implementation process and technical relevance approval, organizational set-up, contractual agreements negotiation, environmental and social impact assessment, carbon standard documentation writing and registration under international ICROA recognized carbon standards (VERRA and GS mostly).
- Implementation follow-up and monitoring: budget use control, implementation follow-up, MRV processes under the standards, carbon credits issuance and transfer, monitoring report preparation.
- Contribution to PDM positioning: sectorial watch, contribution to expertise papers and representative role in working groups.
- Management: no hierarchical responsibility but active role in the team strategy and juniors' training/supervision.
Required competencies and experience for the position:
- Strong sectorial background and technical expertise.
- Excellent knowledge of carbon offset methodologies (VERRA, GS, etc.) and the associated documentation (PDD and MRV).
- At least 5 years of relevant working experience in project development in developing countries.
- On-field experience in project implementation.
- Proficiency in budget elaboration and monitoring.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Fluent in English.
- Available for regular on-field trips.
- Mentoring skills, agile and committed team-worker.
