We are looking for East Asia, Transport Director/ Senior Manager to make a difference and be part of our digital transformation!
Overview:
This role will oversee all aspects of the transportation function within East Asia scope, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations. The role will responsible for overseeing and optimizing transportation network for our Distribution Center and 3PL, requiring strong leadership skills and a broad understanding of various transportation networks. This role is pivotal in driving process improvements, cost reductions, and ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals. The incumbent will act as a change agent, managing a team to enhance global transportation processes and foster innovation in logistics operations.
What will you do?
Operations Management:
- Overall responsible for transport operations in East Asia region. This includes Air freight, ocean freight, land transport for both International and domestic.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, and vendors.
-Work with internal stakeholders to meet expectations and resolve transportation-related issues.
- Address any transportation delays or service issues, offering solutions as needed.
- Key point of contact for escalation and resolving transportation issues
Supplier Management:
- Set-up KPI's, score cards, standardize measurements and reporting. Monitor and evaluate supplier performance against service-level agreements (SLAs)
- Negotiating contracts/rates, service agreement with transportation vendors and service providers as required
- Manage transport suppliers effectively through performance evaluation like MBR and QBR
Strategy and Projects:
- Develop and implement transportation strategies that align with business goals for the region
- Lead and implement optimization opportunities and initiatives to deliver the savings as planned.
- Reduce airfreight and express modes for local transportation by working with countries and identify consolidation opportunities
Data Analytics:
- Monitor, track and analyse key metrics and data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Analyze, review and report freight analysis - performance, spend, savings.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management to make data driven decisions. Create monthly dashboard for management review.
- Utilize data to forecast transportation needs, plan for seasonal or demand fluctuation
- Leverage technology to optimize and ensure the best possible delivery performance
Solution and Transformation:
- Identify and implement new transports solutions to meet the dynamic business needs.
- Support the evaluation and creation of transport solutions and cost/price structures for new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with the global freight team in the implementation of transport/freight services as required. Align with other regional transport managers on joint initiatives and improvement opportunities.
Sustainability
- Ensure reporting of CO2 emission as required by company, work with transporters on sustainability.
- Work on freight consolidation and transport mode optimization to achieve both cost savings and reduced carbon emissions.
- Develop and implement sustainability-driven initiatives in transportation, such as reducing single-use plastics and utilizing electric vehicles (EVs).
Compliance
- Managing Transporters compliance and performance in East Asia
- Support Trade compliance activities including HS code validations and documentatons.
- Lead and support in sourcing, selection and implementation of domestic transport/freight services as required in East Asia region in compliance with group policy
- Tracking freight and transport performance and compliance with Group strategy
- Ensure all activities related to customs, export control, and dangerous goods are in strict adherence to local and international regulations.
Financial Management:
- Managing the transportation spend in the region.
- Responsible for freight related savings in East Asia region and Distribution Centers.
- Freight invoice audit
- Maximize Free Trade Agreement (FTA) benefits.
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
- University or Master degrees - Engineering, Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain, Process Management, or Operations Management.
- At least 10 year relevant experience in Transportation management (customs management, transportation, with managerial experience.
- Experience in implementing transportation processes within a large, complex organization.
- Deep understanding of transportation logistics, including road, rail, sea, and air freight.
- Expertise in managing relationships with 3PL, 4PL providers, carriers, and freight forwarders.
- Experience with multi-modal transport and optimizing transport routes across regions.
- Strong problem-solving abilities to address operational issues such as delivery delays, route disruptions, and compliance challenges
- Strong communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders across diverse cultures and geographies.
- No Direct reports in this role, however close collaboration with stakeholders and extended team is required.
- Able to work under pressure, high commitment, self-motivated to achieve aggressive deadline
- Strong ability to influence and convince stakeholders. Resilient in the face of challenge
