The Data Protection & Regulatory Security Compliance Advisor serves as an expert resource supporting regional regulatory compliance, guiding data strategy, and safeguarding data security across the organization. This role translates business needs into actionable data privacy controls and guidance, ensuring that all data handling processes are robust, secure, and fully compliant with relevant regulations. Acting as a strategic consultant, the advisor collaborates closely with legal and technical teams to interpret and implement regulatory standards, fostering a unified approach to data protection. In addition, the advisor develops comprehensive training programs to educate staff on data privacy and security best practices, building awareness and a strong culture of security throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Security Advisory: Serve as the subject matter expert on implementing security controls to safeguard data from unauthorized access, breaches, and other risks. Collaborate closely with IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure that all activities align with organizational security policies.
  • Regulatory Compliance Guidance: Advise the organization on adhering to regional and international data protection regulations. Work in partnership with legal and technical teams to interpret relevant laws and standards, ensuring accurate and effective implementation.
  • Data Protection Strategy: Translate business needs into actionable data protection directives and controls. Contribute to the development and execution of a comprehensive, resilient data security strategy.
  • Training and Awareness: Design and deliver training programs to educate staff on data protection best practices, fostering a culture of compliance and accountability throughout the organization.
  • Implementation and Monitoring Support: Assist with the deployment and ongoing monitoring of data protection controls. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities and mitigate risks.
  • Policy Documentation: Develop and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation of data protection policies and procedures to ensure transparency and traceability.
  • Incident Response Planning: Define and update an incident response plan to ensure swift, effective handling of data security incidents.
  • Risk Management Advisory: Conduct regular risk assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend strategies to mitigate data security risks.
  • Data Governance Alignment: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align data governance requirements from regulatory bodies, customers, and business needs. Help shape a unified strategy to ensure global compliance

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Law, Business, or a related field.
  • 8+ years' experience in data protection, privacy, or information security roles, preferably within a regulated environment
  • Professional certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, CISSP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in data protection, privacy, or information security roles, preferably within a regulated environment.
  • Thorough understanding of major data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA,) and industry standards.
  • Proven track record of developing, implementing, or managing security policies, controls, and incident response plans.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical or legal concepts for various audiences.
