About the Role (Job summary):

This position is responsible for leading the statutory financial reporting and accounting operations for one Schneider Electric legal entity in Japan. The role ensures accurate and timely reporting in compliance with internal policies based on IFRS standards, as well as local regulations.

What will you do?

  • Oversee monthly and annual closing activities, including journal entries and ledger management, in close collaboration with the China-based Accounting Competency Center (CACC).
  • Ensure accurate accounting treatment and proactively identify opportunities to improve accounting and finance processes, working with internal stakeholders to implement enhancements.
  • Provide necessary documentation and support to external tax advisors for annual tax filings.
  • Coordinate with internal teams such as Finance, Tax, and other departments, as well as external stakeholders including tax firms.
  • Take ownership of statutory financial reporting and tax filing for the assigned legal entity, ensuring full compliance with internal controls.
  • Utilize systems such as Oracle and Excel for daily operations and reporting.

What skills and capabilities will make you successful?
  • Solid accounting knowledge, including IFRS and JGAAP standards
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify areas for improvement
  • Creativity in proposing practical solutions to accounting and finance issues
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate across teams and functions
  • Mid to high level proficiency in Excel
  • Experience with Oracle ERP systems
  • Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English, including email, meetings, issue framing, and persistent follow-up
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to balance ownership of responsibilities and collaboration with others to drive efficient and simplified outcome

Who will you report to?
  • This position reports to the Japan Cluster Accounting Head and is part of a six-member team, each responsible for leading accounting operations for different Schneider Electric entities in Japan.
  • The role involves close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including the China Accounting Competency Center (CACC), Local & Zone Finance, Tax, Treasury, and Business Teams.
  • It is a leadership role with ownership of statutory financial reporting and compliance responsibilities for the assigned entity.

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Knowledge and experience equivalent to Bookkeeping Level 2 or higher
  • Familiarity with international accounting standards such as IFRS and USGAAP
  • A strong accounting background and hands-on experience are essential
  • Beyond formal qualifications, adaptability to a dynamic and evolving environment is key
  • While being flexible, the candidate must also stand firm on fundamental accounting principles and maintain high standards of integrity
