Across the mRNA CoE, a Data Continuum is being created to fuel scientists' decision making with Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable data - all along the mRNA value chain. The Research & Biomarkers teams within the mRNA CoE rely on Benchling as a digital foundation platform. In this role, you will be a key contributor to two complementary PODs to develop, deploy and manage Benchling for the mRNA CoE teams in US and France.

As a Technical Engineer, you will more specifically:

Build the product
  • Participate in agile PODs (Product Oriented Delivery) and interact with scientists, data scientists as necessary to clarify requirements, working directly with the Product Owner to clarify and further define the details of how the story should be implemented
  • Advise users on best practices to maximize the benefit of Benchling
  • Plan and estimate development tasks that are required to fulfill the story
  • Ensure the implementation of Benchling evolutions and adapters, coordinating with external partners if/when needed
  • Take responsibility for the quality of the product delivered and ensure that it meets all controls to address applicable quality, regulatory (Data Privacy, GxP, SOX, etc.) and cybersecurity requirements
  • Create design and development documentation based on standards for knowledge transfer, training, and maintenance

Act as Technical and/or enforcement authority for his/her domain of expertise
  • Propose and contribute to the optimization and implementation of advanced enhancement for Lab Notebook workflows and solutions
  • Contribute actively to Lab Notebook community with a role of technical SME
  • Define and promote best practices and standards
  • Provide a broad vision and understanding of Lab Notebook solutions and workflows

Operate the product / contribute to Operational excellence
  • Ensure the monitoring of the Benchling platform according to service and operating level agreements
  • Collaborate closely with all the other members of the team to take shared responsibility for the overall efforts that the team has committed to Benchling support and operation activities
  • Conduct/contribute to Problem root causes analysis management
  • Perform/Contribute to implementation of sustainable action plans and respectively leading the implementation

About you

Key Functional Requirements & Qualifications:
  • 2+ years direct work experience in a Digital or R&D area
  • Demonstrated understanding of the processes and workflows related to R&D (mRNA a plus)
  • Pragmatic and capable of working in cross-functional teams to solve complexbusiness processes and data flows modelization & implementation
  • Experience with agile/scrum development processes and concepts
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate ideas, concepts and solutions to stakeholders at all levels
  • Self-motivated to visit labs as needed.
  • Fluent in English (French a plus)

Key Technical Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computing, computer science and/or scientific discipline
  • Experience and/or knowledge of ELN tools, preferred Benchling
  • Proficiency in data modelling and data engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new data and software engineering technologies in short amount of time
  • Preferred Experience with programming languages such as various shells, Python, JSON, SQL.
