We are looking for a seasoned agile leader to build and grow our agile center of excellence and deliver world-class agile practices for global product and engineering teams. The ideal candidate will bring in the strategy, agile best practices, tools, and techniques to create self-managed, sustainable, data-driven, and empowered product development teams. They will be responsible for championing, governing, scaling, and measuring the success of our operating frameworks for execution and delivery. This role also focuses on identifying areas of improvement in existing processes to align with Lean/Agile principles and remove unnecessary roadblocks to product development and delivery.

As Senior Manager of Agile Practices, you will be responsible for educating the organization on Agile best practices, developing a maturity roadmap, coaching and development of engineering, product, and project teams to adopt and implement lean and agile mindsets and practices. You will establish and operate processes, mechanisms, and tools to manage the technical delivery of cross-functional complex projects, provide oversight for teams, and remove obstacles. You will leverage your ability to implement change within a large-scale, matrixed global organization.

This role will report to the Head of Global Product Operations for Samsung Ads in Mountain View, CA.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Define and steer the organization's agile transformation strategy, including defining and propagating consistent agile practices, operations, processes, and metrics to achieve execution consistency and predictability
  • Develop an overall Agile journey maturity model with established health assessment framework, ongoing health assessments, coach teams, and measure overall progress toward that goal.
  • Facilitate organizational learning, change management, and process adoption of Agile via metrics, benefits realization, outcomes, and retrospective findings
  • Provide training and coaching of defined agile practices to leaders, teams, and programs to improve collaboration and self-organization
  • Drive continuous improvement by establishing quick feedback cycles and leveraging data-driven metrics (quality, delivery rate, etc.) to identify areas of improvement
  • Facilitate cross team, cross-department initiatives and manage complex dependencies
  • Enable coordination between and among Agile teams for progress, impediment resolution, and project management oversight
  • Define and implement scaled agile techniques and practices when necessary.
  • Act as a change agent and evangelist to influence the adoption of an operational excellence mindset and agile practices throughout the organization
  • Build and manage a team of agile experts, coaches, and project management professionals to achieve all of the above

Skills and Qualifications

  • 12 years of related experience and a Bachelor's degree, or 10 years and a Master's degree, or a PhD with 7 years experience in program management and agile leadership roles in large software organizations
  • 3-4 years of experience building and managing small teams
  • Knowledge of Agile techniques, including Scrum, Kanban, User Story Writing, eXtreme Programming, and a scaling framework such as SAFe or LeSS, scaled Agile methods, and hybrid models
  • Experience coaching self-organizing teams and supporting them in reaching their goals
  • Agile certification(s) from Scrum Alliance, ICAgile, Project Management Institute, SAFe, or other agile organizations (CSM, CSP, PSM, PMI-ACP)
  • Ability to work strategically and tactically (hands-on) as needed, with relative fluidity, limited direction, and high complexity
  • Proven ability for problem-solving in a global organization through relationship building and collaboration
  • Knowledge of the ad tech industry is a big plus
  • Data-driven, analytical, strategic mindset
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and uncertain situations and drive clarity.
  • Attention to detail and quality; striving for continuous improvements
  • Experience with Agile Engineering Practices, including Continuous Integration and Deployment, Test Driven Development (TDD), Pair Programming, Automated Testing, Evolutionary Design is a plus

CALIFORNIA ONLY

Compensation for this role is expected to be between $180,000 and $225,000. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
