Samba TV is seeking a Chief of Staff with deep project management experience as well as experience in product strategy who can execute and operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment autonomously and with ambiguity. This role is pivotal in helping shape and implement our company’s highest level initiatives.

Reporting directly to our CEO, you will facilitate annual planning, own KPIs and QBRs, drive special initiatives, ensure effective communication within the executive and product teams, and bridge the gap between business operations and product execution. You'll be a trusted advisor on key initiatives for the company, ensuring essential product and business information is synthesized and streamlined effectively across all stakeholders.

WHAT YOU'LL DO


  • Company Strategy & Execution
  • Annual Planning and QBRs: Gather information from the business and marketplace to enable executives to execute annual planning and QBRs, synthesize key findings and communicate those back to the organization.
  • Product Strategy and Roadmap: Lead cross-functional collaboration to define and prioritize key initiatives, integrated product roadmaps to best align with business objectives and market opportunities.
  • Feature Prioritization: Work with product teams to ensure product backlog is prioritized, groomed. Evaluate and prioritize features based on customer needs, resource requirements, business impact, and technical feasibility.
  • Performance Analytics: Develop and track key metrics, KPIs, and user engagement data to drive product decisions and unlock growth opportunities.
  • Go-to-Market Strategy: Collaborate with marketing, sales, and product teams to develop and execute go-to-market strategies for new products and features.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Team Coordination: Facilitate alignment between product management, engineering, design, data science, and business teams on key initiatives and deliverables.
  • Quarter Product and Business Reviews: Prepare and lead business and product review sessions with the executive team, including product management, operational teams, GTM teams to surface team/individual performance analysis, and make strategic recommendations.
  • Customer Advocacy: Ensure customer empathy and user experience considerations are integrated into all decisions and strategic initiatives.

  • Strategic Growth Initiatives
  • Research andDiscovery: For new initiatives, lead user research, market analysis, and competitive intelligence to inform product strategy and feature development.
  • Growth: Oversee product launches, feature rollouts, and post-launch optimization initiatives. Build teams and evaluate them at every stage of the product lifecycle. 
  • Technical Scoping: Work with engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications, feasibility tests and development timelines.

  • Executive Support & Communication
  • Lead Executive Team Meetings: Lead the weekly exec meeting with agenda setting, time keeping. Facilitate QBRs and annual planning sessions. Provide ample visibility for all stakeholders and ensure the team is focused and prepared to execute on the highest priority items and doesn't get distracted.
  • Investor and Board Materials: Aggregate quarter business reviews and synthesize board materials. Translate board meeting materials into investor updates. 

WHO YOU ARE


  • Product or Project Management Experience
  • Product or Project Management: 4+ years of product or project management experience with a complex, multi-threaded set of initiatives and required difficult prioritization decisions. 
  • Strategy: Proven track record of developing and executing strategies that drive business growth and user engagement and required difficult juggling of tradeoffs.
  • Agile/Scrum Experience: Solid understanding of various project management tools, agile development methodologies and experience working closely with cross-functional teams.
  • User-Centric Thinking: Strong customer empathy and experience conducting user research, customer interviews, and usability testing.
  • Product Design Collaboration: Experience working closely with UX/UI designers and understanding of design thinking principles.
  • Market Analysis: Ability to conduct competitive analysis and market research to inform product positioning and strategy.

  • Technical & Analytical Skills
  • Product Analytics: Expertise in product analytics tools (Mixpanel, Amplitude, Google Analytics) and A/B testing frameworks.
  • Financial Analytics: Familiarity with business and financial modeling in Excel.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex product data and user behavior patterns.
  • Technical Fluency: Understanding of software development lifecycle, APIs, and technical architecture to effectively communicate with engineering teams.
  • AI/ML Product Experience: Experience with AI/ML-powered products and understanding of how AI models can enhance product capabilities.
  • Data Visualization: Proficiency with data visualization tools (Tableau, Datorama, Google Data Studio) and ability to present complex product data clearly.

  • Education & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, computer science, or related technical field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in product or project management, with preference for candidates with both product and business/financial  experience.

  • Leadership & Communication
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Stakeholder Management: Experience managing relationships with executive stakeholders, customers, and external partners.
  • Product Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present complex product concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaboration: Committed to in-office presence (4-5 days/week) to facilitate close collaboration with product and engineering teams.
  • Travel: Home base in San Francisco, with ability to spend up to 2 weeks a month (50%) traveling for customer meetings, conferences, and market research.

  • Domain Expertise
  • Startup Experience: Previous experience at high-growth technology companies or startups.
  • Relevant Industry Exposure: Understanding of B2B technology, SaaS/DaaS, streaming media, advertising technology, or entertainment industry dynamics will be helpful.

Samba TV expects to offer a base salary between $200,000 - $250,000 per year for roles to be performed in San Francisco or New York City; actual base salary offered will depend on various factors, including but not limited to, location, experience, and performance.Base salary is just one component of Samba TV's total compensation package for employees.
