Staff Technical Writer

Location: In-office Requirement: 10 days per quarter, San Francisco or Bellevue (office hybrid)

Hello from the Industries Content Experience (CX) team!

We help Salesforce customers accelerate growth and improve productivity-across the entire revenue lifecycle, from lead management to forecasting and closing deals. We're looking for a skilled and curious technical writer to join our team.

As part of CX, you'll write content for cutting-edge technologies like generative AI and streamlined user experiences, helping admins, end users, and developers understand and succeed with sophisticated products. If you're equally comfortable with the "technical" and the "writer" parts of the job, this is the role for you.

About You

You're passionate about crafting accurate, approachable, and user-centric content. You love translating complex topics into digestible material. You thrive on cross-functional collaboration and enjoy working closely with developers, designers, and other writers to create outstanding content experiences.

What You'll Do

  • Plan, write, and maintain high-quality documentation for Salesforce administrators and developers-including how-to guides, conceptual docs, release notes, and in-app help
  • Translate technical information into clear, concise, and engaging content that meets the needs of your audience
  • Collaborate in an Agile environment with writers, product managers, engineers, and UX designers to shape product and documentation strategy
  • Contribute to content strategy and help shape the voice and standards for new content types
  • Ensure content is accurate, complete, and aligned with Salesforce style guidelines
  • Embrace new technologies and formats, including video and AI-driven content experiences

Required Skills & Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in technical writing
  • Strong ability to write clear, concise, and engaging content for technical and non-technical users
  • Experience working cross-functionally with developers, product managers, and subject matter experts
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, Agile environment
  • Strong research and synthesis skills-you can dig into technical details and distill them for your audience
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn complex technologies quickly
  • Experience with source control systems
  • Familiarity with XML and DITA

Bonus Points (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with Salesforce or CRM applications
  • Familiarity with Salesforce technologies such as Apex, Lightning Web Components, and the Salesforce Platform
  • Experience optimizing content for AI-powered consumption and discovery

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $127,200 to $174,900.

For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $138,800 to $190,900.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
