Role Description:
We are looking for exceptional candidates to join the Public Sector ECS Solution Engineering team. The ECS
business is the highest performing, highest growth team in Public Sector. As part of the Salesforce Public Sector
business unit, we provide PaaS and SaaS cloud solutions to Federal, State & Local, Aerospace and Defense and
System Integrator customers. The Solution Engineer is responsible for presenting our solutions based on the
customer's business and value drivers, seamlessly weaving technology, capabilities and business requirements into
every customer presentation. The Solution Engineer is responsible for securing the technical and functional win in
every opportunity by addressing the customer's business requirements and removing all technical objections
throughout the sales cycle. To accomplish this, the Solution Engineer must partner closely with Sales and have
technology and sales acumen to drive meaningful discovery to undercover today and future state business
requirements, develop a technical sales strategy, configure and demonstrate the solutions that address these
requirements while focusing on business value.
Prior experience with Customer Relationship Management technology and enterprise selling in a customer-facing
role is highly desirable. But equally important is self-drive and motivation to learn new technologies and industries.
Solution Engineers are master storytellers, we need to be able to take complex pieces of technology and explain
them in an intuitive and compelling way.
Responsibilities:
• Understand customer goals and challenges and map those back to the Salesforce product portfolio
• Design, build, and demonstrate innovative solutions to address these challenges
• Present Salesforce technology infrastructure, including demonstrating deep familiarity with hardware,
software, networking and security stack
• Participate in all appropriate product, sales, technical training and certifications to acquire and maintain
the knowledge necessary to be effective in the position
• Attain quarterly and annual objectives defined collaboratively with management
• Respond effectively to RFIs/RFPs
• Active participation in a fast-paced high-energy market segment and balance multiple projects in a team-
selling environment
Minimum Qualifications:
• B.S. Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years experience as a solution/sales engineer for a CRM company or similar technology
• Knowledge of related applications, relational database, web technology, and cyber-security
• Web and application server programming experience such as Java, LAMP, SOAP, etc.
• Solid oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team to solve technical problems
Preferred Qualifications:
• Public Sector industry experience.
• Familiarity with Salesforce technology
• Familiarity with Government Cloud Compliance standards and certifications
