Leading design for one of Slack's most critical teams focused on core messaging experiences including Activity, DMs, Search, and Notifications. This role shapes how millions of users communicate and collaborate daily.

🎨 Role Overview

The Senior Director of Design will lead design strategy and execution for the Messaging team, focusing on the core of Slack: conversations and channels, with a focus on making Slack feel less overwhelming with better tools and experiences for focus and noise control. You'll partner closely with Engineering, Product and Customer Experience teams to define roadmaps and deliver delightful user experiences.

💪 Key Responsibilities

Lead design vision and strategy for core Slack experiences including Activity, DMs, and Notifications [2]
Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to drive execution of major initiatives like AI integration and information architecture updates[2]
Foster a culture of design excellence and craft across the team [3 • Canvas]
Ensure high quality implementation of design systems and accessibility standards
Mentor and develop design talent across the organization

Deep expertise in product design for complex enterprise software for both desktop and mobile
Track record of leading and scaling design teams
Experience partnering with Engineering and Product leaders
Strong understanding of design systems and accessibility
Proven ability to drive design strategy that balances user needs with business goals
Design and prototyping excellence
