About the Role: Principal Member of Technical Staff - Localization Automation
The Principal role will help build the next generation of translation automation flows used by marketing teams to localize their global content. This is a senior-level individual contributor role, and the right candidate will bring their exceptional leadership and subject-matter expertise to help teams as they innovate in a complex technology space. The opportunity this position brings is the chance to work with generative AI models and machine translation along with a robust automation intelligence in order to reduce friction in our translation workflows.

The successful candidate will have expertise in translation and localization technologies. We are looking for individuals with experience building automation flow tools; including capabilities related to string matching, content transformation and server-less functions. A consistent track record of delivering systems across multiple platforms is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain APIs and services that are consumed by www.salesforce.com as well as other experiences on the Salesforce digital platform
  • Design, implement, test, and deliver scalable, extensible, maintainable and observable services
  • Operate effectively in an Agile and DevOps environment where engineers are expected to be able to design and implement the vital work to ensure quality in their code as well as other engineers'
  • Work closely with a team of engineers, product managers, and architects to build new features our internal customers will adopt while keeping our trusted platform stable and scalable
  • Mentor other engineers in development technologies, tools, and processes
  • Present your designs to internal/external groups and review the designs of others
  • Develop test strategies, design automation frameworks, write unit/functional tests to drive up code coverage and automation metrics

Qualifications

  • Experience working with translation management systems, language service providers, or machine translation-based tools.
  • 8-10+ years of experience
  • Experience building high-scale micro-services on AWS (preferred), GCP, or other public cloud infrastructure
  • Experience developing front-end and back-end software, preferably including JavaScript or TypeScript
  • Experience in service orchestration using tools like Terraform (preferred)
  • Experience in test-driven development and testing frameworks (Jest, Playwright, and other related test frameworks a plus).
  • Ability to evaluate a problem space and make the best technology decisions for the end user
  • Track record of leading highly impactful projects from conception to finish
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A related Technical Degree or equivalent experience

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $151,800 to $296,400.

For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $165,600 to $323,400.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
