Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Product Marketing professional with a focus on Competitive Strategy to ensure Tableau maintains a distinct, differentiated presence in the Business Intelligence & Analytics market. You will partner closely with sales leadership and sales programs teams to ensure that competitive insights generate an advantage on strategic sales opportunities. You will work with the rest of the Tableau product marketing team to deeply understand our customers and our products from a market perspective, develop differentiated messaging and positioning strategies, and infuse our unique story into all of Tableau's GTM efforts. You will partner with Salesforce's competitive intelligence team to define Tableau's differentiation in the context of Salesforce's product portfolio. This role will also inform (and help drive) Tableau's product, sales and marketing decisions by developing actionable insights and strategically focused materials for each group.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Gather, analyze, and synthesize information about the Business Intelligence & Analytics tech markets and surrounding markets (such as Data Management, Embedded Analytics, and Data Science).
  • Develop up-to-date tools (such as battle cards, product analyses, internal and external presentations, etc.) with a view toward improving sales effectiveness.
  • Develop up-to-date customer-facing materials to educate customers/prospects about the differentiation of Tableau from select competitors.
  • Build scalable programs that help activate Tableau and Salesforce sellers to establish Tableau's differentiation in customer scenarios.
  • Identify and fill knowledge gaps in Tableau's understanding of its competitors.
  • Research and stay up to date on market/competitor trends and news.
  • Brief product teams on competitor technologies and update marketing teams about competitive messaging and positioning issues.
  • Help foster and drive internal competitive information sharing.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Deep understanding of and curiosity about the BI & Analytics industry and surrounding markets.
  • General data literacy skills - desired proficiency with BI & Analytics products such as Tableau.
  • Excellent writing ability, including the ability to communicate technical concepts.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Enthusiasm for a fast-growing, fast-changing environment.
  • The ability to own projects from start to finish.
  • Strong entrepreneurial drive.

Desired Education / Experience:

  • 9+ years in a product marketing, competitive intelligence, or technical sales role.
  • Experience developing repeatable, scalable sales enablement programs for sales teams of more than 250 people.
  • Customer-facing experience delivering presentations and software demos.
  • Experience in the Business Intelligence and Analytics industry or as a user of Analytics products.

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $174,800 to $253,600.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
